    • A venting device for an animal feeder which has a feeding teat is disclosed. The venting device has a chamber with an opening into the chamber. A vent opening is also connected to the chamber. A sealing element is retained freely moveable in the chamber. The sealing element has a first surface positioned relative to the opening such that, in use of the feeder, feed in the feeder will contact the first surface and cause the sealing element to move to a sealing position on seat to close the chamber from the vent opening. The surface is configured such that when a negative pressure in the feeder acts on the surface and is sufficient to overcome the weight of feed acting on the surface, the sealing element will be drawn into a position where the chamber can communicate with the vent opening and thereby vent the feeder to atmosphere.

    • A flow control device is provided for regulating the flow of fluid from a container. An exemplary control mechanism includes an inner cap member, an overcap member, and a ball captured therebetween. The overcap member is adapted for axial translation relative to the inner cap member, thereby facilitating one-handed manipulation. Adapters may be provided to facilitate mounting of the disclosed flow control device relative to containers of differing geometry. A releasable locking mechanism may be provided to prevent the flow control device from becoming inadvertently operational.

    • A feeding station for dispensing food or water to small animals. The feeding station having two support members at an angle to one another, and a plurality of apertures in said support members in sets of upper and lower cooperating apertures. A bottle having an angular configuration is adapted to be inserted in said apertures in the support members. The angle or bend in the bottle abuts against one of the support members preventing the bottle from “falling out” of the feeding station. The bottle are further retained in the housing by abutting against the other support member and a resilient strap from above, which permits the lamb or other small animal to “bunt” the bottle to simulate natural feeding. The feeding station is adapted to mounted on a vertical member and feed more than one small animal at a time.

    • A nipple broadly includes a base adapted for coupling to a source of liquid, and an elongated tubular wall presenting a liquid-carrying channel and defining a longitudinal axis. The tubular wall includes a proximate end adjacent to the base and a tip remote from the base. The tip substantially encloses the channel. A liquid passageway is formed through the tip for permitting passage of the liquid from the channel to an animal. A tip ridge is provided on the tip which extends substantially around the passageway. The tip ridge is configured to inhibit the passageway from cracking and growing during usage of the nipple. The base includes an aspiration port for permitting passage of air into the source so that the pressure of the air above the liquid is equalized with the pressure of the air surrounding the source. The aspiration port includes a aspiration slit formed through the base. The aspiration slit is generally normal to a plane defined by the longitudinal axis of the tubular wall and the port. The aspiration slit is configured to be in a closed condition while the nipple is at rest, and to open slightly as the animal pulls on and squeezes the nipple while drawing liquid from the source.
