    • A method and system for controlling operation of a tractor and/or agricultural implement towed by the tractor is disclosed. A vibration sensor is mounted to the agricultural implement to detect the magnitude of vibration, or bounce, on the agricultural implement. Because the magnitude of the vibration is a function of several operating parameters including, but not limited to, the speed at which the tractor is travelling and the downward pressure applied to the agricultural implement, one or more additional sensors are provided to monitor these operating parameters. Each of the sensors generates a feedback signal and transmits it to the controller. The controller is configured to generate an reference signal to control an actuator as a function of the magnitude of vibration and the measured operating parameter. The actuator receiving the reference signal is configured to control operation of the tractor or agricultural implement to reduce the magnitude of vibration.

    • The apparatus is an automatic velocity control system for an agricultural machine. Three feedback circuits are used to increase reliability and repeatability of the apparatus despite variations in load and ground conditions and non-linear responses of control components. A solenoid current sensor supplies a feedback signal to control a current controller for solenoids controlling a hydraulic valve, a hydraulic cylinder position sensor provides a feedback signal to counteract the non-linearity of the hydraulic valve controlling the hydraulic cylinder, and wheel speed sensors supply vehicle speed signals to be compared to the signal from the operator's speed control. A microprocessor processes the sensor signals to maintain the desired velocity.

    • A tractor/implement combination is controlled through the use of real-time data on the true draft force generated by engagement of an implement with the ground. A method of controlling a tractor/implement combination includes obtaining and storing calibration data on the torque generated at the tractor flywheel, while the implement is disengaged from the ground, including such data the rolling resistance and frictional/parasitic losses between the flywheel and driven wheel axle of the tractor. During subsequent operation of the tractor/implement combination, the calibration data is subtracted from instantaneous data to generate a signal indicative of the implement draft force. The draft force signal may be factored to take account of the tractor power train ratio and the rolling radius of the tractor tires. The method allows generation of accurate draft force data, regardless of the nature and mounting location of the implement.

    • A draft vehicle, especially for agricultural use, having an engine, preferably of the fuel injection type, and driving wheels and a transmission connecting the engine to the wheels and including a torque converter. Measuring elements measure the circumferential speed of the driving wheels, the speed of the vehicle, the speed of the engine, the rate of fuel supply to the engine, the torque supplied to the converter and the torque supplied by the converter. The thus measured values are compared to obtain values representative of the slip of the driving wheels and the efficiency of the engine and the efficiency of the converter. Indicators supplied with the obtained values are disposed within the view of the vehicle operator.
