摘要： An extendable leg for a stand or similar appliance having elongate members (13,14,15) interconnected to extend and retract with respect to each other includes a first member (13), intermediate member (14) and a final member (15). The intermediate and final members have releasable locking devices (16,17,18) adjacent to one end of the leg engagable with the first and intermediate members respectively. Remote release devices (19) are provided for releasing the locking devices from the other end of the leg to permit when released, the first member to the extended with respect to the intermediate member and the intermediate member to be extended with respect to the final member. A further locking device (20,22,24) is provided between the intermediate and final members and is arranged to be released automatically on full extension of said first member with respect to the intermediate member to release the intermediate member for extension with respect to the final member for full extension of the leg and to re-engage automatically on completion of retraction of the intermediate member with respect to the final member.

摘要： The disclosure relates to a vertically operating linear actuator for a multi-stage extendible column for carrying a cinematograph or TV camera. A load representing the weight imposed by the multi-stage column with its camera is indicated at (10), a vertically extending gas strut at (11) and a base (12). A piston rod (15) of the strut carries a rotatable disc mounted on a pivot pin eccentrically to its geometric center to provide a varying radius of rotation between the offset center and disc periphery (21). A tether (22) extends over the disc and is secured at one end to an anchorage (23) on the base and the other end supports the load (10). The effective force applied by the strut to the weight (10) will be determined by the effective radii of the disc (20) at points where the tether engages the disc. The varying radii are arranged to compensate for the diminishing force generated by the gas strut (11) at its extends to maintain a constant force on the load (10) so that the latter remains imbalanced throughout its range of movement.

摘要： An extendable leg 10 for a tripod, the leg 10 comprises two or more leg-stages 11b, 11c, each leg-stage 11b, 11c moveable axially relative to one or more of the or each other leg-stages to lengthen or shorten the leg. The leg 10 includes a clamp assembly to releasably prevent the relative movement when the leg is at the desired length. The clamp assembly includes a leg brake 22a moveable between a first leg-stage locking position and a second leg-stage release position. In order to control movement of the leg brake 22a between the first and second positions, an actuation means 16 is provided. A cable 17 is operably connected at a first end to the actuation means 16 and at a second end to the leg brake 22a, such that operation of the actuation means 16 causes the cable 17 to move the leg brake 22a.
