摘要： The present invention concerns a welding mold for butt welding two metal parts by casting a molten filler metal in an imprint defined by a mold. At least one of the components of the mould includes a spacer member shaped and sized so that it can be engaged in a gap between the two parts only if the latter have a mutual separation at least equal to a specific mutual separation, so as to allow the mutual assembly of the components of the mold around the parts to be welded only on this condition. Applications include the welding of railway rails, concrete reinforcing rods and metal bars.

The invention also concerns a mold (1) adapted to fit over the two rail ends to form a molding cavity (10), comprising a crucible (4) arranged above the region of the rail head so that it is fed with molten metal from the molding cavity (10) via a secondary channel (42).

The compressible lining (58) used to seal the molding die in relation to leakages of the weld metal in the liquid state is limited to the parts of the contact surfaces (52) of the parts (19) of the mold on the rails to be welded, corresponding to the bottom, the sides and the top of the foot, to the sides of the web and below the head. The rigid refractory material of the parts (19) is exposed in the parts (67, 71) of the contact surfaces corresponding to the sides and the top of the head, and suitable to be removed selectively from the latter. This makes it easy to adapt the mold to rails with different degrees of wear.
