摘要： A flooring panel includes a decorative upper surface and a lower surface. The flooring panel further includes a plurality of edges extending between the decorative upper surface and the lower surface. The plurality of edges are shaped and dimensioned for selective coupling with adjacent flooring panels, wherein each of the plurality of edges includes an edge profile having at least a male coupling member or a female coupling member. The flooring panel also includes at least one notched transition section that extends between one of the plurality of edges of the flooring panel and the decorative upper surface of the flooring panel. When adjacent flooring panels are brought together, the at least one notched transition section of the adjacent flooring panels defines a grout receiving recess into which a material may be poured for creation of the a grout line between the adjacent flooring panels.

摘要： A technique is provided for interconnecting an embedded antenna with external circuitry. The antenna may be formed on an intermediate layer of a layered structure, such as a laminate. The interconnection may be made by providing an aperture through the laminate structure and a terminal pad of the antenna, and making a physical connection by means of a fastener or similar structure extending through the laminate structure. A conductive fluid or other intermediary material such as epoxy may be provided between the fastener and the embedded antenna terminal pad. Similar connection may be made by capacitive coupling with a terminal pad on an exterior surface of the laminate structure.

The method is achieved by forming a decorative laminate of a predetermined size, placing the decorative laminate within a die cavity, injection molding the core within the die cavity while the decorative laminate remains within the die cavity to form a decorative laminate panel and releasing the formed decorative laminate panel from the die cavity. The invention further relates to a decorative laminate panel manufactured in accordance with the method defined above and a unitary edge profile member adapted for use in the fabrication of a compound injection molded decorative laminate panel.

The stair molding has an elongated, rigid base member for installation of the stair nosing on the leading edge of a stair step and an elongated, flexible tread member covering and interlocked with the rigid base member. The base member has a nose portion with a rounded front surface for defining a leading edge on a stair step and planar back surfaces that intersect at right angles. Flanges extend laterally from and on the same plane as the back surfaces of the nose portion for positioning the base portion on the tread and riser of a stair step.

The sheet metal fastener has a U shaped flange extending beyond the leading edge of the tread. The laminate covered stair nosing has a planar top surface and a planar bottom surface. Prongs on the sheet metal fastener are forced into the planar bottom surface for affixing the stair nosing on the tread. The stair nosing has a U-shaped leading edge. The U-shaped leading edge extends beyond the leading edge of the tread. The U-shaped flange on the sheet metal fastener is interlocked with a channel in the U-shaped leading edge for supporting the stair nosing on the tread. A shoulder on the stair nosing abuts with the front surface of laminate flooring on the riser for retaining laminate flooring installed over a pad on the riser of the stair step.

摘要： A method for undermounting a sink to a countertop includes preparing a countertop and a sink. Thereafter a primary channel is routed within the backside of the countertop, the primary channel including a base and being shaped and dimensioned for receipt of the sink flange, and a secondary channel is routed within the base of the primary channel along an interior circumference of the primary channel. Substrate material is then removed from the secondary channel to expose an underside of the decorative laminate and adhesive is applied within the secondary channel so that the underside of the decorative laminate is fully covered. A bead of adhesive is applied to the base of the primary channel and the sink flange is placed within the primary channel. A support plate is secured around the sink flange to provide support and a central portion of the countertop defined by the primary channel is cut out to expose the bowl of the sink.

摘要： A system and a method for coating two sides of a laminate material is disclosed in which one side of the laminate material is coated with one substance and the second side is coated with a different substance. The method described is particularly suited for applying a substance providing balancing characteristics desirable in the end product to one side of the laminate material and applying a substance providing other characteristics desirable in the end product to the other side of the laminate material. For example, a balancing substance may be applied on one side of a kraft paper sheet and a substance providing structural bonding applied to the other side, thereby eliminating the need to use a discrete balancing sheet in a laminate. The kraft sheet thus coated may be used to form a laminate panel.

摘要： A polymeric foam composition is provided for use as a substrate in decorative compositions having at least one decorative layer on the substrate, wherein the substrate is prepared by foaming a composition made of (i) a resin matrix of one or more polymers selected from acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) polymers, polycarbonates, polystyrenes, polyphenylene oxide and polyvinyl chloride polymers, preferably obtained from recycled plastics, and (ii) a filler, using one or more blowing agents. The resulting foam composition has physical and mechanical properties sufficient for its use in place of fiberboard or particle board in the preparation of various laminate based decorative products, such as laminate flooring, solid surface laminates, countertops, etc.
