    • A tool holder is equipped with a tip run-out correction mechanism for correcting run-out of the tip of the tool. The tip run-out correction mechanism includes an annular stepped portion formed on a cylindrical support portion of a holder body; a ring member rotatably fitted onto the annular stepped portion; an eccentric cam disposed within the ring member, the eccentric cam extending radially through the ring member and being rotatable about a radially extending axis; and a pin disposed within the ring member to be movable along a direction parallel to the center axis of a flange portion of the holder body. One end of the pin is in contact with the eccentric cam, and the other end of the pin is in contact with a rear end face of a clamp sleeve which clamps a tool inserted into a chuck sleeve of the holder body. The eccentric cam is rotated so as to adjust press force that the pin applies to the rear end face of the clamp sleeve, to thereby elastically deform a base end portion of the chuck sleeve in a radial direction in such a manner that tip run-out of the tool approaches zero.

    • In order to provide a tool holder which greatly reduces frictional resistance between a locknut and a taper collet, and eliminates a twisting of the taper collet during tightening of the locknut, in a tool holder comprising a locknut 13 which pushes a taper collet 12 into a tapered hole 115 of a collet chuck body 11 to chuck a cutting tool 15, between a reference end 123 of the tape collet 12 and a collet supporting portion 131 opposed thereto, interposed is a bearing washer 14 to reduce frictional resistance between both contact surfaces. To both surfaces of this bearing washer 14, namely, to the respective surfaces which come into contact with the reference end 123 and collet supporting portion 131, surface treatment by any of ion nitriding, DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating, and TiN coating is applied.

    • A wrench includes a wrench body having a ring portion and a handle portion. A retainer that holds a plurality of wedge members at predetermined intervals in a circumferential direction of the ring portion is disposed inside the ring portion. The wrench is provided with a changeover mechanism for operating the retainer. By use of the changeover mechanism, the retainer is moved to a position at which the wedge member faces the corresponding free region, a position at which the wedge member faces the corresponding left-hand wedge region, or a position at which the wedge member faces the corresponding right-hand wedge region.

    • A chuck includes a holder body, a clamp sleeve, and a large number of needle rollers. The holder body has a shank portion, a flange formed at one end of the shank portion, and a chuck sleeve that extends from the flange in the direction away from the shank portion. The clamp sleeve is fitted onto the outer circumference of the chuck sleeve such that the clamp sleeve is rotatable and axially movable relative to the chuck sleeve. The needle rollers are disposed between the chuck sleeve and the clamp sleeve over the entire circumference. The clamp sleeve is rotated to cause the needle rollers to revolve spirally along the outer circumferential surface of the chuck sleeve while rotating about their own axes in order to decrease and restore the diameter of the chuck sleeve. In the chuck, a groove having a predetermined depth is formed in the end surface of the flange opposite the shank portion such that the groove surrounds the base end of the chuck sleeve through which the chuck sleeve is joined with the flange.

    • A tool holder has a main sleeve to be attached to a tapered bore of a spindle of a machine tool, and a subholder which is coupled with the main sleeve and to which a tool is attached. The tapered shank of the main sleeve is inserted into the tapered bore of the spindle having a taper of 7/24. The main sleeve has a tapered hole having a taper of 1/10. A tapered sleeve which is elastically deformable in the radial direction is fitted onto the outer circumference surface of a shank portion of a subholder body of the subholder. The subholder is coupled with the main sleeve such that the outer circumferential surface of the tapered sleeve having a taper of 1/10 intimately contacts the circumferential surface of the tapered hole and the rear end surface of a flange of the subholder body intimately contacts the forward end surface of the main sleeve. This structure prevents the generation of vibrations during machining. Also, the tool holder makes it possible to efficiently machine a workpiece at high speed, and to increase the durability of the tool and the spindle.
