    • An apparatus for winding rotors of electrical machines including a winding device for small forms with several winding axes. A coil winding axis of the form is always positioned and fixed coaxially with the axis of the winding tool and wound upon the rotation of the winding form by the winding tool, while the wire guide carries out a predetermined displacing motion for the winding of layers. Back and forth displacement of the wire guide results in a more uniform coil winding with a higher fill factor. Winding by means of the rotation of the winding tool integrated with the coil form holder takes place at rpm's that are several times higher than those of conventional winding machines.

    • A multiple spindle winding machine includes a conveyor belt for advancing a plurality of workpiece carriers frictionally engaged thereto to a winding station and a processing station. Each workpiece carrier includes at least two spaced apart coil holding fixtures rigidly secured to a base plate and cooperable with the winding station. A lifting device having guide rails laterally displaced from the conveyor elevates one of the workpiece carriers from the conveyor belt to the winding station. The winding station includes a wire guide and a cutting device mounted to a pivotable arm for providing wire to be wound around a coil. Wire residue is collected by a holding pin positioned on the workpiece carrier.

    • To improve the twisting of wire ends on a coil form having contact pins axially located with respect to a winding shaft, a swivel shaft is provided on each coil holder of a coiler tool. One end of the swivel shaft is in the form of a driving pin and the other in the shape of a fork. The fork shaped end of the swivel shaft is capable of engaging a driving pin located on a rotating drive shaft. The coil holder is in the form of a strap and tiltable. The wire ends are cut by a wire cutting device that is displaceable vertically with respect to a wire guide. The contact pins with the wire ends twisted on them in a parallel manner may serve simultaneously as plug-in pins for printed circuits.

    • The disclosure embraces an apparatus for handling wire at a work station of an electric coil making machine where conductive wire is wrapped around a spool to form an electric coil with a number of spools being carried from work station to work station on spool carriers mounted on a turret head; at a final work station a pair of clamps are mounted on arms which are pivoted from a rest position to a clamping position to grasp and hold the wire extending between adjacent spools on the turret head while the wire is severed by a knife; the length of wire between a spool and an adjacent clamping device is then wrapped on a connecting peg of an individual spool until the wire is broken; the clamping device is then pivoted back to its rest position for disposal of the wire remnants held by the clamping device.

    • To regulate the wire tension, a wire tension regulator is disposed on a winding device for electrical coils. A return roller and a contact roller can be mounted on the regulator for prebraking of the winding wire. The winding wire is subsequently wrapped 360.degree. around a wheel brake. The wheel brake is driven in the forward and backward directions of the wire by a d.c. motor. A strain gauge is disposed between the brake wheel and the winding device. The d.c. motor generates a signal indicating a rotor position to a motor control unit which transmits the position as an amplified signal to a control device and, as a derived set value wire tension signal which also reaches the control device. In addition, a set value wire tension signal of a machine control unit or a set value wire tension signal of a wire tension preset is provided to the control device. The set value of the wire tension is compared with a signal representing the instantaneous wire tension. The control device emits a set value signal to the motor control unit which passes it along, amplified as an energy supply, to the d.c. motor to convert the tension of the wire from its present value to the set value.

    • The automatic winding of extremely small electrical core coils, for example video core coils, takes place on a rotatable winding unit which cooperates with a wire drawing apparatus provided with a catch hook. Each coil former receiver is provided with an associated wire mount. During the winding, the coil former together with the coil former receiver is immobile wherein the wire section of the winding wire necessary for each core coil is drawn from a wire storage coil over a wire deflector. During the winding of the core coil the rotatable winding unit, together with a plurality of wire retainers arranged in a vertically adjustable winding head, can be positioned so that the catch hook passes horizontally not only through one of the wire retainers but also through the core opening in the coil former. After applying the winding wire to one limb of the coil former during the withdrawal of the catch hook through the core opening, the cyclic rotation of the wire retainers then takes place through 270.degree. whereupon a complete turn is formed.
