摘要： An apparatus and method for orienting portions of a disposable undergarment, such as a core thereof, is provided. The apparatus preferably includes a core lifting system for lifting a core of a disposable undergarment when in a first orientation position during travel along a predetermined path and a core orientor connected to the core lifting system for orienting the core in a second orientation position along the predetermined path of travel. The core orientor preferably includes at least one drive for driving the core lifting system along the predetermined path of travel and an orientation changing system associated with the at least one drive for changing the orientation of the lifted core to the second orientation position when driving at least portions of the core lifting system along the predetermined path of travel.

摘要： A disposable undergarment waistband and method of forming a waistband are provided which preferably include providing a first elongate layer of non-woven material having a first predetermined width and upper and lower surfaces. A plurality of elongate elastic strips are positioned to overlie a first portion of the upper surface of the first non-woven layer. A second elongate layer of non-woven material preferably is also provided having a second predetermined width and upper and lower surfaces. The lower surface of the second elongate layer is positioned to overlie the plurality of elastic strips and the upper surface of the first portion of said first non-woven elongate layer. The second predetermined width of the second non-woven layer preferably is narrower than the first predetermined width of the first non-woven layer. The upper surface of at least a second portion of the first elongate layer preferably is folded to overlie and to be secured to the upper surface of the second elongate layer. A plurality of gathers also are formed in the first and second non-woven layers.

The apparatus preferably includes a dancer frame, a first set of a plurality of spaced-apart fabric guides connected to the dancer frame, a track connected to the dancer frame, and a tension yoke mounted for slidably following the he track. The tension yoke preferably includes a second set of a plurality of spaced-apart fabric guides positioned for slidably following the movement of the tension yoke when following the track. The apparatus also preferably includes a weight tension control assembly connected to the tension yoke for weightingly controlling the tension applied from the tension yoke to a web of fabric positioned thereon to thereby readily increase and decrease the tension applied to the web. A method of controlling tension in a web of fabric preferably includes positioning a web of fabric on first and second sets of a plurality of spaced-apart fabric guides, moving the web of fabric across the first and second sets of a plurality of spaced-apart fabric guides, and dancingly moving at least one set of the first and second sets of a plurality of fabric guides during movement of the web of fabric across the first and second sets of a plurality of spaced-apart fabric guides.

摘要： A tray forming apparatus and method are provided which advantageously increase the quality and production speed of tray type containers. The apparatus takes a precut paperboard blank through loading, forming, glueing, and compressing phases of operation to form a tray, which phases include conveying blanks from a stacked position to forming the blanks in a partially folded position, gluing using only a single pair of glueing heads for minor panels of the blank, and compressing the folded blank for securing the folds in a structural position sufficient for relying on the strength of the paperboard during the stacking of loaded trays. The tray forming apparatus includes suction cup styled conveyors for moving the blank from a stored position to a position for folding, a platen that contacts a bottom panel of the blank and moves the blank through fold guiding arms for positioning the blank in a partially folded position between guide rails for movement downstream to additional folding arms that hold major panels and minor panels in a position for adding adhesive to the major panels just prior to compression of the partially folded blank into its fully folded position. By applying adhesive just prior to compression of the panels, and by securing the panels in a structurally sound position, the adhesive is effective in securing the blank into its fully formed tray and to forming the tray with folds that provide the structural support necessary to support stacking fully loaded trays without depending on the adhesive for such stacking.

A lifter preferably is connected to a distal lower end portion of the container holder for lifting the container holder from the distal lower end portion thereof and for pivoting the container holder about the upper end pivot axis to unload the contents of a container being held by the container holder.

摘要： A disposable undergarment forming apparatus and methods are provided for forming disposable undergarments. The apparatus preferably includes a core former positioned to form a stream of undergarment cores. The core former includes a mat securer positioned to secure each of a plurality of undergarment mats to a sheet of a polymeric material and a first separator positioned downstream from the mat securer for separating the stream of undergarment cores into a plurality of individual cores. An elastic waistband former preferably is positioned adjacent the core former for forming elastic waistbands. A waistband securer is positioned downstream from the core former and positioned to receive the elastic waistbands from the elastic waistband former for securing the waistbands to the plurality of individual undergarment cores to thereby form a chain of a plurality of undergarments. A folder is positioned downstream from the waistband securer for folding each of the plurality of undergarments of the chain. A side connector is positioned downstream from the folder for connecting at least the side peripheries of the waistbands of the plurality of undergarments of the chain. The apparatus also preferably includes a second separator positioned downstream from the side connector for separating the plurality of undergarments of the chain into individual disposable undergarments.

摘要： Apparatus for opening flattened cartons having a pair of minor flaps and a pair of major flaps. A constant speed conveyor carries a horizontally disposed flattened carton across an actuator having a cam surface. The cam surface moves upward to fold one pair of major and minor flaps upward and then downward to fold the other pair of major and minor flaps downward. A clamp grasps the upward folded major flap and draws it upward as the conveyor moves the carton forward causing the carton to open. The clamp releases the major flap and the carton moves past a glue gun which applies glue to the minor flaps. A pair of curl bars folds the major flaps against the glue coated minor flaps. An extending platen presses the flaps against a roller bank permitting the glue to set. The platen retracts and the opened and bottom-sealed carton is completed.
