    • A sensor apparatus is described that detects and indicates the quantity of cryogenic liquid in a Dewar container independent of the spatial orientation and physical motions acting on the Dewar container. The sensor apparatus comprises a first conductor, preferably positioned adjacent to the container inner shell wall and a second conductor comprising a plurality of axially spaced and concentric conductor bands mounted inside the container in a proximately spaced and a parallel relationship with respect to the first conductor. The second conductor bands divide the first conductor into zones that provide a plurality of distinct and separate capacitors. A computer measures the capacitance of each capacitor and compares the individual capacitance measurements to reference capacitance values corresponding to a known quantity of cryogenic fluid filled in the container at known angles of inclination. The sensor apparatus is also useful as a motion detector.

    • A quick-donning protective hood assembly for respiratory protection from smoke and noxious gases. The assembly consists of a clear "TEFLON" film hood (12) having a scrubber canister (20) and an exhaust valve (42) supported thereon. A neck seal (14) is connected to the lower marginal edge of the hood. A springlike hoop (16) is connected to the lower marginal edge of the hood. A bib (18) is carried by the springlike hoop and supports an oxygen generator (22) which is interconnected with the scrubber canister by an oxygen supply line (24). Waist straps (54) extend from the sides of the bib and may be adjusted to secure the bib about the wearer. The assembly can be stored in a cylindrical storage container with the hoop being collapsed. When the assembly is withdrawn from the storage container, a lanyard (62) will initiate the operation of the chemical oxygen generator. In addition, chemiluminescent devices (64) are secured to the hoop when in the storage container, and the springing open of the hoop when withdrawn from the storage container will initiate a chemiluminescent reaction within the illuminating devices. The springlike hoop will additionally spring the assembly open to position the components for quick donning.

    • A guard fence system is useful for preventing persons from falling off bleachers. The guard fence system comprises at least two upright posts mounted to the bleachers. Each post has a lower U-channel and an upper U-channel spaced a predetermined distance apart. The lower and upper U-channels have respective slots that open into the top ends of the U-channels. A guard fence member comprises a rectangular frame covered with a grill material. Upper and lower pins extend oppositely from the frame vertical members. The lower pins of the guard fence member are inserted into the slots of the lower U-channel. The guard fence member is pivoted to a generally vertical attitude such that the guard fence member upper pins are proximate the upper U-channels on the posts. The guard fence member is lifted and further pivoted until the upper pins thereof are vertically over the slots of the corresponding upper U-channels on the posts. Then the guard fence member is dropped so that the upper pins thereon enter the slots of the upper U-channels. The slots on the lower U-channels are sufficiently long to prevent the guard fence member lower pins from disengaging from the lower U-channels when the guard fence member is lifted. A bolt is removably inserted into at least one of the lower or upper U-channels to prevent unintentional lifting of the guard fence member out of the slots.
