    • A bicycle brake includes a pair of calipers which are provided with brake blocks and pivot about two parallel axes, and which are resiliently biassed towards a rest position and movable into an operative braking position by a flexible cable fixed within a through-hole in a member for operating the calipers and acting in a direction contained in a plane equidistant from the two pivoting axes of the calipers. The end part of the cable is pressed into the through-hole by a threaded element. To enable the cable to be mounted rapidly and easily, the operating member has a slot passing through it and opening into the through-hole, and is arranged so that the end part of the cable can be inserted into the hole through the slot by the movement of the cable in a direction peripendicular to its axis.

    • A rear derailleur for bicycle gears comprises an upper body which can be fixed to the bicycle frame and a lower body carrying chain transmission member and being movable relative to the upper body to bring the chain into selective engagement with a series of sprockets carried by the hub of the rear wheel of the bicycle. The lower body is connected by an articulated parallelogram joint to an intermediate connecting element which is in turn mounted for sliding on guide member carried by the upper body. Connecting rods are provided for univocally correlating the movements of the intermediate element relative to the upper body with the movements of the lower body relative to the intermediate element. In this way, the resulting movement of the lower body relative to the upper body has both a component along the axis of the hub of the rear wheel of the bicycle, and a component radial to that axis.

    • In a gear selector for controlling speed gears with a spring-loaded derailleur for sports and racing bicycles, there are associated with the gear selector operating lever (1), mounted rotatable against friction on a pivot (2), a snap-action mechanism controlling a plurality of lever positions with which a like number of positions of correct alignment of the speed gear with the various sprockets of the free wheel correspond, and means for activating and deactivating said mechanism on command.     • A device to anchor a cyclist's shoe to the pedal of a bicycle is provided, including a plate fixed to the bottom of a cyclist's shoe. The plate has front and rear engageable portions. A bicycle pedal is rotatable about a spindle; and a clip member cooperatively engages the front portion of the plate and a pivotable hook lever to cooperatively engage the rear portion of the plate. The clip member is laterally pivotable about an axis perpendicular to the foot rest surface. Portions of the hook lever and the spindle are adapted to cooperatively engage each other in a manner which prevents the pedal from rotating when the hook lever is not in engagement with the plate.

    • To improve the geometrical arrangement of spoked wheels for bicycles or motorcycles and lengthen the life thereof, the spoke nipples are applied on the wheel rims by means of bushes formed of two cylindrical coaxial bodies of different diameter for housing respectively the conical head and the cylindrical section of the nipples and being partially telescoped and reciprocally connected. The bushes are apt to be riveted onto the inner element of the rim, with the common axis of the cylindrical bodies slanting in respect of the rim radius by an angle equal to half of the mean angle between that of maximum deviation and that of minimum deviation of the wheel spokes, depending on their variable assembly conditions. The bushes are realized in two models, each of which has the common axis of the two cylindrical bodies slanting in respect of the rim radius symmetrically as in the other model, and they are applied into holes of the rim made along common axes having the four inclinations required to obtain the substantial coaxiality between the nipple and the wheel spoke in any assembly condition.
