摘要： An armored cable may include a cable core including at least one transmission element and a corrugated armor configured to surround the cable core. The corrugated armor may be configured to include raised portions and recessed portions along a length of the cable, the raised portions may be configured to be separated from one another by exterior grooves, and the recessed portions may be configured to be separated from one another by interior grooves. One of the raised portions may be connected to one of the recessed portions by a radial wall that may be configured to provide the corrugated armor with enhanced crush resistance.

A filler is included within the cable to separate the pairs and provide a support base for the shield, allowing for optimized ground plane uniformity and stability for tuned attenuation, impedance, and coupling properties. The filler orientation, shape, and size provides support for the shield such that a gap is provided between the shield and the twisted pairs with a given minimum size without increasing the maximum cable core size. The length of arms of the filler may be adjusted to fine-tune the size and shape of this gap and control air-dielectric volume and radial contact or spacing between any pair(s) and the shield, tuning electrical performance characteristics caused by non-linear effects of electromagnetic interactions at short ranges between the pairs, shield, filler, or other components.

The cable includes a plurality of conductors for each signal or leg, which may be configured as a braid of three subsets of braids of bonded pairs of insulated conductors. The bonded pairs may be twisted or untwisted, in close proximity such that inductance is reduced via magnetic field cancellation. Each leg may be separate and parallel, rather than interwoven or braided together, increasing the distance between the two signals and reducing capacitance. The legs may be positioned close to each other, such that their magnetic fields cancel to further reduce inductance.

In some implementations, the cable also includes a jacket surrounding the filler, conductors, and threads.

In one embodiment, the biasing element is external to the nut and the connector body. In one embodiment, the biasing element surrounds a portion of the nut and/or the connector body.
