    • A component stager accepts from developers one or more versions of a component of a product, and associates with each version a time that is one of a number of the periodically recurring times (also called “ticks”), e.g. an upcoming Wednesday, if the periodically recurring times happen on a weekly basis, i.e. every Wednesday. Such associations may be used to identify one or more versions that are associated with a specific tick, e.g. to identify the amount of work done between to ticks and/or to find versions that are currently available for release, which may be based on a most recent tick, or a tick associated with a milestone in the past.

    • Designs for cylindrical-wave controlling, generating and guiding devices are disclosed, which include multi-cylindrical-layer reflector and anti-reflection for unguided cylindrical waves, and concentric-circle-grating waveguide reflector, directional coupler and distributed feedback structures for guided cylindrical waves. A multi-cylindrical-layer structure takes the form of cylindrical layers wrapped concentrically around a central rod. A grating waveguide structure takes the form of a slab waveguide in which one of the slabs has circular ridge-groove grating. Layer and ridge-groove spacings are critical to the functionality of these structures. Design rules are outlined. These structures are important components for cylindrical wave controls. Designs of narrow-linewidth and high-power surface-emitting semiconductor lasers using the grating reflectors and 90-degree couplers are also disclosed.

    • A window lift has a motor and a gearbox. The motor is a permanent magnet motor, comprising a stator and a rotor rotatably mounted to the stator. The stator or the rotor comprises a housing and magnets fixed to inner surface of the housing. The radial cross section of the housing comprises n side portions and n connecting portions, where n is an integer greater than 2. Adjacent side portions are connected together by one corresponding connecting portion and the magnets are fixed at portions corresponding to the connecting portions. The radial cross section of each side portion is like a convex curve line, which is curved outwardly relative to a straight line passing through the two ends of the convex curve line.

    • The performance of a WDM system is improved by adjusting launch powers of each channel responsive to a prediction of system performance degradation. The prediction of system performance degradation could relate to the effect of Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) in which case, given launch power, a value representative of the effect of SRS is estimated for each channel in a WDM system using a method described herein. Using this SRS effect estimate, a value is computed for the estimated output power of each channel. These estimated output power values are then used to refine the estimate of the SRS effect on each channel. Subsequently, the refined SRS effect estimates are used to refine the estimated output power values. These steps are repeated and eventually an estimate of SRS effect on each wavelength channel is settled upon that is as accurate as that which results from other, more computationally complex, methods.

According to one embodiment, a method for dynamically reporting information stored in one or more data repositories can comprise retrieving report metadata from a report repository. The report metadata can define a format for the report and identify one or more queries for the report. Query metadata can be retrieved from a query repository. The query metadata can define one or more queries, for example, Structured Query Language (SQL) queries. Retrieving the query metadata can be based on the one or more queries identified in the report metadata. The one or more queries defined by the query metadata can be performed on the one or more data repositories and a results matrix can be populated with results of performing the one or more queries defined in the query metadata.
