    • A switch-equipped connector device, comprises: a case having an opening; a cover to be removably mounted on the case so as to cover the opening; a first connection terminal on the side of load and a second connection terminal on the side of a power supply, a connection portion between which is exposed from the opening, and which are held in the case; a short-circuiting terminal attached to the cover; a switch connector located in said opening, the switch connector to be electrically connected to the short-circuiting terminal in the opening, the short-circuiting terminal being disconnected from said switch connector when the cover is removed from the case; and a switching device connected to the second connection terminal through the power supply, the switching device interrupting power supply to the second connection terminal when the cover is removed from the case. In the above configuration, the switching device is operated when the short-circuiting terminal is electrically disengaged from the switch connector in a removed state of the cover so that power supply to the second connection terminal is interrupted. Therefore, when the cover is detached from the case for maintenance of the connector device, an operator can remove the connection terminal on the side of a power supply with safety without receiving electric shock.

    • A holding tool (40) is inserted into a retainer-attaching hole or a holding tool-accommodating space (22) with the holding tool (40) supporting a short-circuit terminal (15) therein. The short-circuit terminal (15) is inserted into a cavity (14) in a connector housing (10) by pushing a rear end of the terminal (15) through a handling aperture (23) by means of a pushing pin (45). Since the terminal (15) is inserted into the connector housing (10) from its lower side, a front opening of the cavity (14) can be formed into the smallest size so that a short-circuit-releasing member (31) can enter the opening (20). Extraneous substances hardly enter the cavity (14) in the connector housing (10) through the opening (20). Also, since the handling aperture (23) may be formed into the smallest size so that the pushing pin (45) can enter the aperture (23), the connector housing (10) becomes a small size. Thus, the connector housing (10) can be prevented from becoming a large-sized configuration and from entrance of the extraneous substances through the front opening (20) of the cavity (14).

    • There is provided a male contact having improved electrical contact reliability with a female contact. The male contact has a mating section capable of being formed compactly using a plate member having a plate thickness satisfying a desired strength requirement. This feature makes it hard to open the plate members 11 and 12 when the male contact is mated with the female contact.
