    • An electric fan comprises a rotary shaft supported on a mounting base plate. The rotary shaft is extended through a cylindrical stator and on a tip of the rotary shaft, the bottom of a cup-shaped rotor yoke as well as an impeller are secured. The stator is enclosed in the rotor yoke, on whose inner wall an anisotropic rotor magnet magnetized in the reverse polarity alternately in its circumferential direction is secured. The stator and the rotor form a DC brushless motor, whereby the impeller is rotated through the rotation of the rotor and the rotary shaft. In the proximity of the rotor magnet, there is provided a hall integrated circuit (IC), through which a rotating position of the rotor may be detected. On the basis of the rotating position signal from the hall IC, a microcomputer controls the current flowing period in such a manner that the current flowing through the stator coil will partly overlap between each phase. A separate microcomputer adjusts the voltage applied to the DC brushless motor and controls the wind velocity.

    • A controller of a DC brushless motor comprises a microcomputer. The microcomputer receives signals from three hall elements being disposed in association with the DC brushless motor and for detecting the rotating position of a rotor magnet of the DC brushless motor. On the basis of the position detecting signals, the data of the rotating number of the rotor magnet may be evaluated. When the number of the rotation thus evaluated is below the predetermined rotating number, the microcomputer stops the power supply to the DC brushless motor from a switching power source. In order to evaluate such data of rotating number, an internal interruption is started at every predetermined period in the microcomputer. The microcomputer determines at every internal interruption whether or not a counter which is reset at each rotation of the rotor magnet has overflowed, and the data of rotating number is evaluated on the basis of repetition times of the internal interruptions and periods required for such overflow.

    • An image forming apparatus includes a photosensitive member on which an electrostatic latent image is formed. The electrostatic latent image is developed by toner and the toner image thus developed is transferred on a copying paper. A stopper is provided in the path of the copying paper to a transferring station. A first paper path for manually feeding paper, and a second paper path is provided for automatically feeding paper. The first and second paths join each other at an upstream side of the stopper. Downstream of the junction of the two paths is formed a common path in which the stopper is disposed. In the common path at the upstream side of the stopper, there is arranged a sensor for sensing the presence of copying paper. In an automatic feeding mode, when a signal is not given from the sensor within a predetermined period of time after a paper feed roller is operated, the occurrence of a jam will be detected. In a manual feeding mode, when an output signal is provided from the sensor indicating that paper is present in the common path, a command for the copy start will be given.
