摘要： An apparatus and method reduce power consumption in a broadband wireless communication system. A transmitting end apparatus that includes a plurality of transmit (Tx) antennas includes a control block, a Processor (DSP) block, a modem block, and at least one power controller. The control block determines a traffic amount based on an amount of used resources. The Digital Signal Processor (DSP) block performs scheduling by using a subset of Tx antennas and a subset of resources on a frequency axis if the traffic amount is less than a threshold. The modem block applies boosting to a signal transmitted using the subset of resources. And at least one controller turns off an operation of at least one power amplifier that corresponds to at least one Tx antenna that is not included in the subset of Tx antennas.

The apparatus includes a scheduler for, if an UpLink (UL) scheduling for scheduling an allocation order of UL resources is performed prior to a DownLink (DL) scheduling for scheduling an allocation order of DL resources, setting a size α representing a size in which a DL burst region is maximally allocated in a DL sub frame, for, if the DL scheduling is performed prior to the UL scheduling, setting a size β representing a size in which the DL burst region is maximally allocated in the DL sub frame, for determining whether to discard a DL Medium Access Control (MAC) management message to be transmitted by using the size β, and for, if it is not determined to discard the DL MAC management message, determining a priority of a DL scheduling and a UL scheduling by using the size α and first performing one of the DL scheduling and the UL scheduling in accordance with the determined priority.

摘要： An apparatus and a method for controlling a data transmission rate in a broadband wireless communication system are provided. In the method, an interference factor representing an interference degree by an external sector is measured. Interference given to the external sector is estimated using the interference factor, an interference weight depending on a location of a terminal, and an amount of wireless resource use of a self sector. A data transmission rate is determined with consideration of an interference estimation value and a wireless channel state of the terminal.
