    • A vacuum control system allows the degree of vacuum in a vacuum vessel to be kept constant while removing vaporized components degassed into the vacuum vessel through a gas permeation diaphragm by stably introducing a very small amount of air into a vacuum exhaust path of the vacuum vessel. The vacuum control system controls the rotary power of a DC brushless motor, continuously controls displacement of a vacuum pump, and thus keeps the degree of vacuum in a vacuum vessel constant, by decompressing the inside of the vacuum vessel using an exhaust vacuum pump which operates with the DC brushless motor, monitoring the inside pressure of the vacuum vessel using a pressure sensor, and controlling a voltage applied to the DC brushless motor on the basis of an output signal resulting from measurement of the inside pressure of the vacuum vessel by the pressure sensor.

    • An image processing method and an image processing apparatus are disclosed, in which curved linear objects and uneven linear objects as well as rectilinear objects can be detected easily and accurately. Edge pixels P1 extracted from a gray-scale image to be processed are sequentially considered to search for an edge pixel having an opposite direction of density gradient to each of the edge pixels P1 within the range of a predetermined length W along the direction orthogonal to the edges. Once an edge pixel P2 meeting these conditions is extracted, a line segment having a length L is set extending in the direction C parallel to the edge of the edge pixels P1 from an intermediate point Q between the extracted edge pixel P2 and the edge pixel P1 under consideration.

    • Light sources emit irradiation lights respectively, so that edge parts of mutual irradiation areas (inspection areas) are superposed one another. The imaging apparatus receives regular reflection lights and generates two images corresponding to each of the light sources. A main control part combines two images and determines presence/absence of a defect. By irradiating an inspected surface A with the irradiation lights from mutually different directions, a position of an area showing the defect in each image is slightly deviated. Therefore, even if a dimension of an area showing the defect is small in each image, by superposing two images one another, the dimension of the area showing a defect part becomes large in the image after composition. Thus, an accuracy of defect detection on the edge part of the inspection area can be improved.
