摘要： A data migration management apparatus continuously monitors and stores the utilization statuses of a migration-source storage area and a migration-destination storage area, and uses the information to set up a data migration. An information management unit collects information related to the storage configuration and information related to performance from respective storage apparatuses, and stores the information in a storage unit. In a case where a data migration plan is to be set, a performance information provision unit provides, to a user computer, variations in the utilization statuses during a predetermined period for each of a migration-source volume and a migration-destination array group.

A server 101 requests OS information and file system information managed by a host A and a host A′. If, based on this information, it is determined that, when the OS of host A and host A′ are the same or even different, the file system of host A is supported by host A′, the server 101 disconnects a host A-recognized logical volume VOL-A1 from host A, and connects it to host A′. Conversely, if it is determined that the OS of host A and host A′ differ, and that the host A file system is not supported by host A′, the server 101 prepares a new logical volume Vol-A1′, causes host A to read out the data inside VOL-A1 and to transfer it to host A′, and causes host A′ to write the transferred data to VOL-A1′.

摘要： Pairs are formed from a plurality of dispersed volumes and copying between the volumes is conducted by a series of remote operations from a management server. A management server 10 instructs the generation of configuration setting files 23, 30 to host computers 20, 30 selected so as to form copy pairs. If the configuration setting files are generated by host agents 21, 31, the management server 10 instructs copy start to a host computer 20 having a primary volume. The host agent 21 generates a prescribed command via a copy pair control module 22 and causes a storage subsystem 40 to execute copying between the volumes. When copying is completed, the management server 10 acquires the newest storage configuration information from the storage subsystem 40 and updates configuration information DB12.

In yet another mode, the HORCM instances are started up when predetermined conditions are fulfilled. A more flexible operation can thus be performed.
