    • A display substrate includes a base substrate, a switching element and a pixel electrode. The switching element is formed on the base substrate. The pixel electrode is electrically connected to the switching element. The pixel electrode includes a plurality of slit electrodes respectively disposed on a plurality of domains in parallel defined in a first direction. The slit electrodes are extended in a direction different from the first direction. A slope of a first long side of the slit electrodes is different from that of a second long side opposite to the first end side of the slit electrode. Thus, a plurality of domains is formed on one line, so that a direction of liquid crystal molecules is controlled and a generation of texture may be decreased at a boundary between domains. As a result, compensating efficiency is enhanced.

    • A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate and a second substrate facing each other, a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first and second substrates and including liquid crystal molecules, a first gate line and a second gate line formed on the first substrate and transferring gate signals, a first voltage line formed on the first substrate and transferring voltage of predetermined intensity, a data line formed on the first substrate and transferring a data signal, a first switching element connected to the first gate line and the first voltage line, a second switching element connected to the second gate line and the data line, and a pixel electrode connected to the first switching element and the second switching element. A gate-on signal is applied to the first gate line earlier than the second gate line.

    • A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate and a second substrate facing each other; a switching element disposed on the first substrate; a pixel electrode connected to the switching element and supplied with a data voltage; an opposing electrode disposed on the second substrate; and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate and including liquid crystal molecules. The pixel electrode includes a cutout and a liquid crystal direction controller that are alternately disposed. The cutout and the liquid crystal direction controller divide the pixel electrode into a plurality of sub-regions, and inclination directions of the liquid crystal molecules are different according to the plurality of sub-regions when the pixel electrode is supplied with the data voltage. The liquid crystal direction controller is concave downward or convex upward with respect to a surface of the first substrate.
