    • A liquid crystal display (LCD) device, a luminance difference compensating method thereof, and a method for compensating for a luminance variance in a LCD device are provided. The LCD device comprises a plurality of LCD modules tiled together, each of a plurality of microlenses provided on each of the plurality of LCD modules and including a curved portion and a flat portion, a timing controller for outputting RGB data, and a lookup table for separating the RGB data corresponding to the curved and flat portions of each of the microlenses, for converting the RGB data of the curved portion, and for outputting the RGB data corresponding to the flat portion and the converted RGB data corresponding to the curved portion. Accordingly, luminance differences are reduced or eliminated.

    • A semi-transmissive in-plane switching (IPS) mode liquid crystal display (LCD) panel, in which each pixel region can exhibit the same luminance in transmissive and reflective portions thereof while having a single cell gap structure, is disclosed. A method for fabricating the semi-transmissive IPS mode LCD panel is also disclosed. The panel, in which each pixel region includes a transmissive portion and a reflective portion, comprises a color filter substrate, a thin film transistor substrate assembled with the color filter substrate such that a cell gap is defined between the thin film transistor substrate and the color filter substrate, the thin film transistor substrate including storage capacitors each forming, in the reflective portion of an associated one of the pixel regions, a horizontal electric field different from a horizontal electric field formed in the transmissive portion of the associated pixel region, to compensate for a phase difference generated in the associated pixel region, and a liquid crystal layer dispensed in the cell gap, and oriented in a predetermined direction.

    • A liquid crystal display device includes pixels having a plurality of subpixels. The pixels include data displaying subpixels having a first pixel electrode receiving red, green, and blue data voltages to display an image, and a common electrode to which a common voltage is applied. The pixels further a viewing angle controlling subpixel driven in response to a voltage applied to the common electrode, a side electrode separated from the common electrode, and a second pixel electrode. Each of the subpixels includes a rib distorting an electric field applied to the corresponding liquid crystal layer. The viewing angle controlling subpixel delays a phase of the light from the data displaying subpixels when a voltage having a voltage difference from the common voltage is applied to the side electrode during a narrow viewing angle mode of the liquid crystal display device.
