    • A microscope objective lens which, in spite of having a great numerical aperture and a high magnification, can always maintain an excellent imaging performance even if the thickness of a parallel flat plate such as a cover glass disposed between the object surface and the objective lens is greatly varied. The microscope objective lens has, in succession from the object side, a first lens group of positive refractive power for converting the light flux from an object into a convergent light flux, the first lens group having a positive meniscus lens component with its concave surface facing the object side and having a cemented lens component, a second lens group having a cemented lens component of negative refractive power disposed in the convergent light flux, and a third lens group of negative refractive power having a meniscus lens component with its convex surface facing the object side and having a succeeding negative lens component. The second lens group is movable on the optical axis relative to the first and third lens groups to correct deterioration of imaging performance due to variation in thickness of the parallel flat plate.

    • The present invention relates to a composite lens and a method for manufacturing the same, particularly to a composite lens in which a second lens component is coupled to a first lens component at part of a first surface, and intends to improve optical characteristics. A composite lens (1) has a first lens component (10) and a second lens component (20). The first lens component (10) has a first surface including a first lens surface (13), a peripheral surface (15a) surrounding the first lens surface (13) and a ring surface (17a) included in the peripheral surface (15a) and surrounding the first lens surface (13), and a second lens surface (12) on the opposite side of the first lens surface (13). The second lens component (20) is coupled to the first lens component (10) at part of the first surface surrounded by the ring surface (17a). The ring surface (17a) is positioned on a portion of the first lens component protruding from a joint portion (14) between the first lens surface (13) and the peripheral surface (15a) in a first direction from the second lens surface (20) to the first lens surface (10) along an optical axis of the first lens component (10) and is exposed out of the second lens component (20).

    • A development device includes a developer carrier, a bearing member, a biasing member, and a guide. The developer carrier supplies a developer to an electrostatic latent image formed on an image carrier to develop the electrostatic latent image into a toner image. The bearing member rotatably supports the developer carrier axially. The biasing member is provided on a side of the bearing member opposite the image carrier to apply a force to the bearing member to move the bearing member and the developer carrier toward the image carrier. The guide is disposed about the bearing member to enable the bearing member to move therebetween and guide the bearing member toward the image carrier. The bearing member includes a rotatable part to rotate and slide over the guide while contacting the guide.
