    • The present invention relates to a charging generator control system comprising a generator which includes a field winding, and an armature winding being in three-phase connection to generate an A.C. output; a rectifier which rectifies the A.C. output from said armature winding of said generator; a battery which is charged with a D.C. output from said rectifier and which can supply an exciting current to said field winding; a separately-exciting power source which generates a D.C. voltage having a magnitude independent of the generator output and which can supply an exciting current to said field winding; a voltage regulator which controls the exciting current flowing through said field winding of said generator, thereby to control the output voltage of said generator to be a predetermined value; and a switching circuit which changes-over between said battery and said separately-exciting power source, depending upon a rotating speed of said generator, a condition of a load and a capacity of said separately-exciting power source as the exciting current sources of said field winding.

    • An alternating current (AC) generator of the type used in vehicular applications and driven by the vehicle engine has a stator winding and a field winding wherein the electrical resistance of the field winding varies as a function of temperature. An exciting current intermittently is allowed to flow through the field winding which induces a current in the stator winding. The output of the stator is rectified and used to charge the vehicle battery. The invention comprises inclusion of field winding current compensation apparatus which varies as a function of temperature to reduce undesired field winding current variations due to temperature which results in improvements of power output and stabilized generator driving torque.

    • The present invention relates to a power supply system for vehicles having a generator which includes an armature coil for generating three-phase alternating current, a field coil held in opposition to the armature coil, a rectifier for converting an A.C. output of the armature coil into a direct current, and a voltage regulator for setting the generated voltage of the armature coil at a constant value by controlling a current flowing through the field coil, and a first battery which is connected across output terminals of the generator; a starting motor and an electric load connected in parallel with the first battery; and consists of a two-battery power supply system for vehicles comprising a second battery which is connected to an ignition device separately from said first battery, and which is charged by a power source other than said generator.

    • An electric generator for a vehicle has a rotary generator shaft, a generator rotor mounted on the shaft and having a field winding, a bracket surrounding the generator rotor and having the generator shaft rotatably journalled therein, an inductor fixed to the bracket means and having an energizing coil with a plurality of poles, and an induced member rotatably mounted on the rotary generator shaft and opposed to the inductor with a minute gap therebetween, so as to be coupled to the inductor by an electromagnetic force when the energizing coil receives current from the generator. The generator stator is disposed around the generator rotor and has an armature winding with a number of poles exceeding twice the number of poles of the inductor and for generating an AC output usable for supplying power to a load outside the generator. The energizing coil is connected to the armature winding for receiving a part of the AC output for energizing the energizing coil. A cooling fan is integrally connected with the induced member and directs a cooling air flow over the generator.

A resistor having a positive temperature coefficient is connected between the connecting point of the charge display lamp and second DC output terminal and a ground terminal. The resistor may be implemented as a plurality of resistors having positive temperature coefficients connected in parallel with one another, or as a fixed resistor connected in parallel with a resistor having a positive temperature coefficient.
