    • The invention concerns a high storage capacity ROM-RAM disk and a process for reading and writing to the ROM-RAM disk. T he aim of the invention is to devise a ROM-RAM disk and a process making it possible to read ROM and RAM simultaneously, to read the ROM area and at the same time write to the RAM area and to provide the largest possible volume of memory. The invention comprises two alternative designs. In a first design a ROM-RAM disk contains an area having both ROM and RAM memory structures as of a certain radius or diameter, establishing therein, at a constant rotational speed, a scanning/writing speed which ensures a reading/separation of the data stored in the ROM-RAM structures. In a second design, the available storage area is taken up entirely by a ROM-RAM storage area, where RAM memory structures have a reduced data rate in order to form, a length of memory structures necessary for separating the data stored in the ROM-RAM storage area.

    • A circuit arrangement for detecting and recognizing the type of optical recording medium being scanned, in which a high pass filter is connected in series with a rectifier. The high pass filter receives a data signal containing information stored in the recording medium. A low pass filter has an input which receives also the data signal. The first input of a comparator is connected to the output of the rectifier, whereas the rectifier has an input connected to the output of the high pass filter. A second input of the comparator is connected to an output of the low pass filter, and a controls processor is connected to an output of the comparator. A second comparator may be provided with a first input connected to the output of the rectifier, whereas the second input of the second comparator is connected to a reference voltage. The output of this second comparator is also connected to the controls processor which recognizes the type of recording medium being scanned from the outputs of the comparators.

    • A circuit for reversing a magnetic field in which a bifilar coil is provided with a series of two oppositely-wound windings that are connected together at one end to form a junction. A source of current is connected in series with an inductive resistor, and this series circuit is connected at one end to the junction. At the other end of this series circuit, there is a voltage supply source. Each of the two oppositely-wound windings has its other end connected to a variable switch. The two variable switches have control inputs that are connected to two outputs from a control unit which applies a reference potential to each winding through the variable switch, so that all current from the source of current flows through each winding upon closure of the respective variable switch.
