    • An air cooling type absorbing cooler provided with an air cooling type absorber having a structure in which, in cooling the absorbing solution and the refrigerant vapor by air, the absorbing solution and the refrigerant vapor on the inlet side of the absorber are cooled by the cooling air on the outlet side of the absorber, while the absorbing solution on the outlet side of the absorber is cooled by the cooling air on the outlet side. By causing the absorbing solution sprayed into the absorber to flow downward and the air for cooling the absorbing solution and the refrigerant vapor to flow upward, the absorbing solution having a temperature which is approximately equal to the outlet temperature of the absorber is cooled by the air which has a temperature approximately equal to the inlet temperature of the cooling air. The absorbing solution supplied from the absorber is cooled by the refrigerant vapor evaporated by the evaporator.

    • A cooling system including a compression refrigeration unit and an absorption refrigeration unit, with the compression refrigeration unit including a compressor having a capacity control mechanism; a condenser for cooling and condensing a compressed refrigerant gas through a heat exchange between the refrigerant gas and a cooling medium circulated through the condenser; and an evaporator into which the condensed refrigerant is introduced through an expansion means so as to be evaporated and cool a medium by the latent heat derived from evaporation. The absorption refrigeration unit includes a generator having a capacity control mechanism for heating a solution to generate a vapor of a refrigerant and a strong solution; a condenser in which the vapor of refrigerant generated in the generator is cooled and condensed an evaporator in which the refrigerant in the condenser is evaporated and cools a medium to be cooled by latent heat from the evaporation; an absorber in which the vapor of refrigerant is absorbed by the strong solution generated and forms a weak solution; and a pump for feeding the weak solution to the generator. The compression refrigeration unit and the absorption refrigeration unit are connected so that at least the medium to be cooled and the cooling medium first flows into the compression refrigeration unit and then into the absorption refrigeration unit.

    • A centrifugal compressor for use in turbo-refrigerators, for example, has a motor casing frame section in which a drive motor is accomodated and a gear casing frame section in which a multiplying gear mechanism is accomodated. The multiplying gear mechanism is connected at its input side with the drive motor and at its output side with an impeller. The mechanism has a first shaft including a rotor shaft of the drive motor and a gear shaft carrying a multiplying gear and separably connected directly with the rotor shaft, a second shaft mounting the impeller and having a pinion meshing with the speed multiplying gear, and bearings mounted on bearing casing frame sections for supporting the first and second shafts at their opposed ends, respectively. A vapor-liquid separator having a first opening on the bottom wall thereof and second and third openings on the side wall thereof is installed on the evaporator in such a manner that the vapor-liquid separator communicates with the evaporator through the first opening. The compressor is connected to the side wall of the vapor-liquid separator so as to communicate the second opening with the suction passage of the compressor and the third opening with the discharge passage of the compressor, respectively. A separation element is disposed in the vapor-liquid separator so as to cross the flow of the refrigerant vapor which flows from the first opening toward the second opening.
