摘要： The present invention relates to an alkaline secondary battery improved in the structure of the plate substrate, and provides an alkaline secondary battery which uses a three-dimensional porous substrate which is inexpensive, improved in stability in electrolyte and inhibited from shrinkage at sintering. The battery has such a construction comprising a sealed case containing positive electrodes mainly composed of a nickel oxide, negative electrodes mainly composed of a hydrogen-absorbing alloy or a cadmium oxide, an alkaline electrolyte containing at least one component selected from the group consisting of potassium hydroxide, lithium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide and separators, the substrate used for at least one of the positive electrode and the negative electrode being a three-dimensional porous iron sintered body on the surface of which is provided a nickel coating layer.

摘要： A relatively large rectangular sealed alkaline storage battery used for electric cars, etc. is disclosed. The battery has such an inner construction as to inhibit deformation of the electrode group caused by charging and discharging so as to improve the life characteristics. The electrode group comprises positive electrode plates alternating with negative electrode plates in a planar direction and separators between the adjacent electrode plates. The electrode group and an alkali electrolyte are inserted in a container, which is sealed by a cover provided with a safety vent and the position of the electrode group in the container is controlled by fixing poles to the cover. The amount of the alkali electrolyte is 1.5-2.5 cm.sup.3/ battery capacity 1 Ah. Especially, for a module battery, a given distance is provided between the shorter side face of the electrode group and the inner wall of the container, and the outer longer side faces of the container are constrained by a metallic plate.

摘要： A sealed alkaline storage battery with a long cycle life is disclosed, in which an inadequate adjustment between some of the electrode plates in a cell and the difference in the deterioration resulting from the difference in the heat dissipating abilities of the plates in the cell has been obviated. The storage battery comprises an electrode group configured by piling up a plurality of positive electrodes and a plurality of negative electrodes alternately with separators interposed therebetween, wherein the capacities of the respective negative electrodes are larger than those of the adjacent positive electrodes, except for the negative electrodes positioned at both ends of the electrode group. The capacities of the positive electrodes and the negative electrodes in the central part of the electrode group are larger than those of the positive electrodes and the negative electrodes located closer to both ends of the electrode group.

摘要： A battery module is provided which includes multiple rechargeable batteries coupled together. The battery module includes multiple prismatic cell cases having short lateral walls and long lateral walls arranged side by side. Adjacent short lateral walls are integral with each other. The battery module includes holes extending through the short lateral walls of the cell cases at upper edge portions. The battery module also includes a pair of frame fittings that have base ends and protruding portions in each of the cell cases for connecting two adjacent cell cases. The protruding portions of the pair of frame fittings extend into the through holes in the upper edge portions of the short lateral walls of the cell cases from both sides and are welded together. Positive and negative electrode collector plates in the cell cases are respectively attached to the base ends of the frame fittings. End frame fittings that have base ends and protruding portions for cell cases are located at both outer ends of the rechargeable battery for connecting the cell cases to outside terminals. Connection terminals that have protruding portions are connected to the end frame fittings at both outer ends of the rechargeable battery.

摘要： A battery electrode substrate which is constituted of a porous metallic body structure having communicating pores at a porosity of at least 90% and an Fe/Ni multilayer structure wherein the skeletal portion of the porous metallic body is composed mainly of Fe and has an Ni covering layer on the surface thereof while pores communicating with the inside and outside of Fe skeletal portion exist in the Fe skeletal portion and the inside of the pores is covered with Ni. The electrode substrate is produced by applying an iron oxide powder of at most 20 .mu.m in an average particle size on a porous resin core body; heat treating the core to remove an organic resin component while simultaneously sintering Fe to obtain a porous Fe body; and then covering the Fe skeletal portion with Ni by electroplating. In this process, the iron oxide can be used in combination with carbon powder. Further, a nickel porous sintered body can also be produced using nickel oxide in place of iron oxide.

摘要： The present invention provides a unit battery of sealed alkaline storage battery comprising a plurality of cells each of which comprises a container in which are inserted an alkali electrolyte and an electrode group comprising a plurality of positive plates and a plurality of negative plates with separators provided between the adjacent plates and which is sealed by a cap provided with a safety valve, the adjacent cells being electrically connected, wherein at least a part of the outermost portion of the electrode group in the cell contacts with the container, the adjacent cells contact with each other at at least a part of their container and a space through which air can pass in at least one direction is provided between the adjacent cells, the unit battery being constrained by holders at a part or the whole surface of both ends in the direction of arranging of the cells. The present invention further provides a sealed alkaline storage battery system comprising an assembled battery which consists of a plurality of the unit batteries.

摘要： A sealed storage battery for use in potable power supply is improved by using metal oxide-hydrogen storage alloy to have a higher capacity and a smaller weight. The battery has a structure which comprises a combination of a positive electrode having a high energy density in a wide range of temperature and consisting of a bulk high porosity body filled with an active material composed of solid solutions such as typical Co solid solution, oxide powders such as typically Ca(OH).sub.2 and ZnO, with an addition of graphite for rendering the electrode reaction effective; and a high capacity negative electrode of hydrogen storage alloy having a reduced equilibrium hydrogen pressure, and where the aforementioned characteristics at high temperatures are further enhanced by an electrolyte suitable to high temperatures, short-circuits are prevented by a chemically stable separator, and a structure sealing a container and a safety vent is excellent in air-tightness and reliability.
