摘要： A pattern forming method according to an embodiment includes: forming a pattern film on a first substrate, the pattern film having a concave-convex pattern, the pattern film being made of a material containing a first to-be-imprinted agent; forming a material film on a second substrate, the material film containing a second to-be-imprinted agent having a higher etching rate than an etching rate of the first to-be-imprinted agent; transferring the concave-convex pattern of the pattern film onto the material film by applying pressure between the first substrate and the second substrate, with the pattern film being positioned to face the material film, and by curing the second to-be-imprinted agent; detaching the first substrate from the pattern film; and removing the material film by etching, to leave the pattern film on the second substrate.

摘要： According to one embodiment, single-sided dual-layer recordable disc 100 may be used. Information recording is performed by forming mark and space portions on data area DA using modulated laser power. Pp denotes the maximum laser power or peak power for forming the mark portion, and Pb denotes the bias power for forming the space portion. Power ratio Pb/Pp is calculated for each of recording layers L0 and L1. Information is recorded on any of the recording layers L0 and L1 based on the result of calculation. Here, the calculated power ratio Pb/Pp changes among the recording layers L0 and L1, thereby optimizing the recording condition for a multi-layer recordable optical disc within relatively short time.

摘要： There is provided an optical disk which adopts a PRML (Partial Response and Maximum Likelihood) method for reproduction of recorded information and whose shortest pit has a conical shape without a bottom surface. If the PRML method is adopted, since it is not necessary to assure a large amplitude of a reproduction waveform of the shortest pit, the pit may have a conical shape. The conical pit enables recording with the dense shortest pit even in a conventional original disk recorder and original disk exposure process, thereby increasing a recording density in a dividing direction.
