摘要： Layered Video Multicast with Retransmissions (LVMR) is a system for distributing video content using layered coding over the Internet. The two key contributions of the system are (1) improving the quality of reception within each layer by retransmitting lost packets given an upper bound on recovery time and applying an adaptive playback point scheme to help achieve more successful retransmission, and (2) adapting to network congestion and heterogeneity using a hierarchical rate control mechanism. A hierarchical rate control system and method is disclosed for regulating the flow of video information in a network by establishing subnet agents for each subnet, and by establishing intermediate agents for each domain. The subnet agents gather information concerning add-layer experiments conducted by receivers in a subnet, and the information is provided to intermediate agents of the domains for regulating data traffic.

摘要： A method, system and computer-readable media for detecting scene changes in a video that includes providing by one or more computing devices a plurality of passes through the video where a plurality of detected scenes from a first pass in a conventional method are identified and a second pass through the detected scenes are provided by the computing device. A plurality of scene boundary differences corresponding to the detected scenes, a fixed average, and a varying average are computed by the computing device. The scene boundary difference is compared with the fixed average and the varying average and if the scene boundary difference is less than the fixed average and the varying average, the detected scenes are combined else the detected scene being an abrupt scene change is determined. The steps of computing a varying average to combining the detected scenes are repeated by the computing device.

摘要： Communication networks and associated methods are disclosed that provide an advertisement or other type of informational message to a calling party before providing ringback tones. A communication network described herein receives a call from the calling party to the called party, and temporarily interrupts call processing for the call. The communication network then selects an advertisement for the call, and initiates delivery of the advertisement to the calling party. After the advertisement is delivered to the calling party, the communication network resumes call processing for the call. In resuming call processing, the communication network provides ringback tones to the calling party and attempts to connect the call to the called party.
