    • A method, apparatus and computer program product for monitoring the motion and/or image quality associated with a captured image are provided. Various actions may be taken in response to the detected motion and corresponding image quality associated with a captured image. In particular, the motion and image quality monitor may, for example, only allow captured images to be used in conjunction with an image matching application, such as a mobile visual search application, when the image features of the captured image have stabilized (i.e., little to no motion is detected between consecutive frames of the captured image). The detected changes in motion and/or image quality may further be used for energy saving purposes, for example, by switching on or off various applications and/or components operating on the mobile device depending upon the amount of motion detected and/or the quality of the image captured.

    • Various methods for visual search stability are provided. One example method includes determining a plurality of image matching distances for a captured object depicted in a video frame, where each image matching distance being indicative of a quality of a match between the captured object and a respective object match result. The example method further includes including, in a candidate pool, an indication of the object match results having image matching distances in a candidate region, discarding the object match results having image matching distances in a non-candidate region, and analyzing the object match results with image matching distances in a potential candidate region to include, in the candidate pool, indications of select object match results with image matching distances in the potential candidate region. Similar and related example methods and example apparatuses are also provided.

    • A method includes modifying values of image data of a first image of an object, the first image taken by a user using a user equipment. The modifying is performed to map one or more color characteristics of one or more color components of the user equipment to corresponding one or more color characteristics for the one or more color components of a reference device. The modifying creates a modified image. On the user equipment, comparisons are performed between the modified image and a number of second images of objects taken by the reference device. Apparatus and program products are also disclosed. Additionally, a user interface is disclosed that provides for training a device model that is used during the mapping.
