    • A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal display panel having a plurality of data lines; a plurality of gate lines crossing the data lines; first and second control lines parallel to the gate lines; first liquid crystal cells provided at one side of the data lines, respectively; second liquid crystal cells provided at another side of the data lines, respectively; a first switching part that drives the first liquid crystal cells, the first switching part being controlled by the first control line and the gate line; a second switching part that drives the second liquid crystal cells, the second switching part being controlled by the second control line and the gate line; and a liquid crystal display panel driver that supplies pixel voltage signals having the same polarity to the first and second liquid crystal cells positioned between adjacent i-numbered data lines and (i+1)-numbered data lines.

    • A reflective-type liquid crystal display device is disclosed which comprises first and second substrates; a metal layer having a convex-concave surface over the insulating layer; a &lgr;/4 phase retardation optical film over the second substrate. The convex portion of the metal has a long width in a first direction perpendicular to the main viewing angle direction of the user. Polarization direction of the polarizer is at 90° with respect to the first direction, and slow axis of the optical film is at 45° with respect to the polarization direction. This reflective-type LCD has a high reflective luminance in the main viewing angle direction. Further, because TE(transverse electric) polarized light is incident on the metal transverse electric, the reflective luminance is much more improved.

    • A liquid crystal display device and a driving method thereof for reducing the number of data lines and the number of data drive integrated circuits corresponding thereto are disclosed. In the device, a plurality of gate lines is provided in a direction crossing a plurality of data lines. First and second control lines are provided in a direction being parallel to the gate lines. First liquid crystal cells are provided at one side on a basis of the data lines. Second liquid crystal cells are provided at other side on a basis of the data lines. A first switching part is provided for each first liquid crystal cell to apply video signals supplied from the data lines to the first liquid crystal cells under control of the first control line and the gate line. A second switching part is provided for each second liquid crystal cell to apply video signals supplied from the data lines to the second liquid crystal cells under control of the second control line and the gate line.
