    • In an embodiment, a skip read command is received that requests transfer of a requested block from a storage device and that requests non-transfer of a skipped block from the storage device. The skip read command specifies a skip mask that comprises an identification of a location of the requested block relative to a location of the skipped block at the storage device. In response to the skip read command, the requested block and the skipped block are transferred from the storage device by creating a read command that requests transfer of the requested block and the skipped block and sending the read command to the storage device. In various embodiments, the skipped block is transferred to a temporary buffer and not transferred to a destination buffer, or the skipped block is transferred to the destination buffer, but overwritten by a transfer of the requested block to the destination buffer.

    • A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium operating in a mobile device server having computer instructions to execute a web server application at the mobile device server. The web server application can be operable to detect a media resource center while roaming in a communication zone of the media resource center, and to transmit a pairing key to the media resource center. The web server application can be further operable to receive authorization from the media resource center to synchronize differences between content stored in the media resource center and content stored in the mobile device server responsive to the media resource center validating the pairing key. Other embodiments are disclosed.

    • In general, embodiments of the present invention classify cloud computing environments based on the abstraction layers that the cloud computing environments span and by combining the re-usable capabilities/logical components from these layers. In a typical embodiment, input (e.g., a set of requirements, a set of preferences, a set of costs parameters, and/or a request for feedback) pertaining to a set of services available in the networked computing environment is received from a requester via a network node. Based on the input, a set of capabilities and a corresponding set of logical components of the networked computing environment are identified. Thereafter, a set of providers capable of providing at least one of the set of services is identified and ranked. The set of logical components is then configured to provide the set of services according to the input, and made available to the requester.
