    • A multi-stage side-channel pump (1) in particular for fuel for a motor vehicle, having at least first blade chambers (16) of a precursor stage (7) and second blade chambers (17) of a main stage (10). The side-channel pump (1) has an electric motor (19) for driving an impeller (13). The electric motor (19) has a rotor (22) and a stator (24). The first blade chambers (16) of the precursor stage (7) and the second blade chambers 17 of the main stage (10) are integrated with the impeller (13). The impeller (13) can also form the rotor (22), making it possible to produce an extremely shallow side-channel pump (1). This pump is employed preferably for fuel delivery in gasoline injection to an internal combustion engine.

    • A fuel injection system is proposed which serves to supply fuel to an internal combustion engine. The fuel injection system includes a metering and quantity distributing valve connected with regulating valves, which can be acted upon by the fuel pressure in a differential pressure control line. Communicating with a fuel supply line are a pressure limiting valve and a switch member, the latter having a switch diaphragm which is displaceable into a return flow chamber by the fuel pressure counter to a switch spring and a closing spring. Upon this displacement, via a tappet, a spring plate resting on the switch diaphragm opens a sealing valve, which rests at the mouth of an outflow line, which via a control throttle leads to the differential pressure control line. The pressure limiting valve is located upstream of the sealing valve. The return flow chamber is arranged to communicate with the fuel container via a return flow line.

    • The apparatus for supplying fuel includes a fuel tank and a fuel feed unit in the fuel tank. The fuel feed unit has a main housing, a suction cover arranged in a bottom part of the main housing, a fuel pump and a degassing valve arranged in the suction cover for degassing the fuel pump. The fuel pump itself includes an impeller housing with a circular passage for fuel flow and an electric-motor-driven impeller. The impeller housing is arranged in the main housing and next to the suction cover and it is provided with a degassing passage connecting the circular passage with the degassing valve. To improve starting behavior the fuel feed unit has a degassing valve in the suction cover, which is connected with the circular passage of the impeller housing by a degassing passage. The degassing valve opens to the fuel tank when pressure in the degassing passage exceeds a predetermined value for degassing the fuel pump. The degassing valve can be a spring-loaded ball valve in which the compression spring bearing on the ball provides a predetermined counter-force so that the degassing valve is kept open during idle and start of impeller rotation until degassing is complete.
