The packing has at least one grooved metal ring with an elastic ring seal on the side facing the actuation element and the bore. As a seat for an elastic ring seal the packing gland features an oblique shoulder which descends toward the center, whereby the ring seal bears the pressure conveyed by a ring element and produced by a spring in the longitudinal direction of the axis of the actuation element.

摘要： Optical quotient thermometers are disposed on the operative end of pusher rods used to push coke from coke oven chambers. The actual value of the optical quotient temperature is measured by the thermometer on two closely-adjacent wavelengths and a quotient signal is produced from the top measured volumes which is converted in a measuring head secured to the pusher rod. An electrical signal is delivered by a converter in the measuring head by wires extending along the pusher rod to a point externally of the oven chamber to a recording and/or evaluating facility where the signal is recorded.

摘要： The heating flues in an oven are equipped with refractory components to control the feed and mixture of combustion air and gas into each heating flue. In one embodiment, the refractory component forms a plurality of passageways through which air and gas flow into mixture. Initially, the gas is mixed with small amounts of air to obtain substoichiometric combustion in the refractory component. Additional combustion air is supplied to the resulting partially combusted gases and unburned gas to complete the combustion of air and gas in the heating flue. This arrangement serves to optimize the flame control and the heat discharge over the height of the heating flue. In a second embodiment, the refractory component forms a plurality of passageways through which combustion air is supplied to the gas along the passageway outlets which are located at preselected positions along the length of the heating flue.

摘要： Production of coke from coal is improved by mixing self-feeding coal with compacted non self-feeding coal prior to carrying out the coking process. Preferably, there is about 10% to about 60% by weight of the non self-feeding coal based on the total charge. Binders may be used and it is preferred that the non self-feeding coal be preheated to approximately 150.degree. C. to 250.degree. C. prior to mixing. In the event that an aqueous emulsion is used as the binder, the preheating step may be omitted. Coke of superior abrasion resistance is obtained by the foregoing method.
