    • A cooking assembly has a main burner, a pilot burner mounted in it and having a vent, a gas valve having separate main and pilot gas outlets, and a main-burner controller including a temperature sensor on the main burner, a control unit on the valve capable of varying gas output from the main gas outlet, and a capillary tube connected between the sensor and the control unit. This controller can vary gas flow from the main outlet in accordance with the temperature of the main burner as sensed by the sensor. An electrical igniter on the main burner can be energized by a switch on the valve. A pilot-burner controller connected to the switch includes a thermoelectric sensor in the pilot vent and blocks gas output from the gas outlets when insufficient heat is detected by its sensor and the switch is not closed. When a control knob on the valve is in a closed position no gas is supplied from the outlets to the burners, in a first open position gas is supplied only from the pilot outlet to the pilot burner, in a second open position gas is supplied from both outlets to both burners while closing the switch, and in a third open position gas is also supplied from both outlets to both burners without closing the switch and while controlling the rate of gas flow from the main outlet to the main burner in accordance with the temperature detected by the capillary sensor.

    • A cooking unit has a ceramic cooking surface, a gas burner underneath the surface, a gas supply including a solenoid valve for feeding a combustible gas to the burner, and an electric igniter juxtaposed with the burner and electrically energizable to ignite the combustible gas issuing from the burner. An electricity supply is connected to the igniter and to the gas supply for electrically energizing the igniter whenever the valve is open and supplying gas to the burner.     • A cooking unit has a housing having a front and a rear and formed at the rear with an upwardly open upright vent passage, a ceramic panel on the housing defining a plurality of cooking spots, a burner plate in the housing spaced underneath the panel and defining therewith an upper compartment opening upward into the passage, and respective gas burners supported on the plate underneath the spots. Thus the burners can heat the respective spots of the panel. An equipment plate in the housing spaced underneath the burner plate defines therewith an intermediate compartment also opening upward into the passage and defines beneath itself in the housing a lower compartment that is open to the outside at the front of the housing. Control equipment is mounted in the lower compartment of the housing along with a blower having an intake in this lower compartment and an outlet in the vent passage. This blower is powered, normally electrically, so as to draw a primary stream of air in from the front of the housing and through the lower compartment and to expel it upward into the passage. This primary current aspirates secondary streams of air from the upper and intermediate compartments by venturi action.

    • To improve on a vent plug system for a cell opening of a storage battery containing a plug element with an inner cartridge and a valve element, to where it is possible without the need for maintaining excessive physical tolerances to assemble it with a minimal number of components m simple fashion while still assuring reliable operation without any major effort, the plug element is provided as a cup-shaped unit with an outer contour shaped to fit into, and seal, the cell opening, with an internal cavity and with a gas port between the cavity and an outside surface. The inner cartridge is essentially cylindrical, has an outer contour shaped to permit insertion in the cavity of the plug element and is provided with a gas passage that opens into the cavity, while the valve element is a separate element retainable in the cavity by the inner cartridge and, as a function of the gas pressure, establishes a gas-flow connection between the gas passage of the inner cartridge and the gas port of the plug element. The inner cartridge and the plug element can be joined in gas-tight fashion, and the inner cartridge features an installation fitting which in the assembled state of the system protrudes at least partially from the cavity of the plug element.

    • This invention relates to a multi-cell storage battery including a housing and, enclosing the housing in gas-tight fashion, a housing cover assembly having an upper cover panel and a lower cover panel with a degassing duct between the upper and lower cover panels which encompasses a multiple array of interconnected, mutually matched labyrinth chambers, fluidically links all cells, opens out at a forward end into at least one gas vent, and is closed off by a spark suppressor. To arrive at a storage battery in which adequate degassing is assured under all operating conditions while at the same time any leakage of acid accumulated in the degassing duct is largely prevented even when the internal pressure is high, the invention proposes a design whereby the gas vent is positioned at an essentially perpendicular angle relative to the direction of gas flow through the spark suppressor while in the area between the spark suppressor and the gas vent the degassing duct is provided with a widened section forming a collecting chamber which, when the storage battery is in its normal position, is situated underneath the gas vent.
