    • The present invention provides for a readily exchangeable flex tool for machining a workpiece. The flex tool includes a driver and an tool carrying body. The driver is coupled to the tool carrying body in a manner which allows the tool carrying body to have at least two degrees of freedom with respect to the driver. The tool carrying body includes an elongate pilot shaft, the elongate pilot shaft and tool carrying body having a longitudinal axis. The at least two rotational degrees of freedom allowing the longitudinal axis of the tool carrying body and elongate pilot shaft to be aligned with a longitudinal axis of a reference bore contained in the workpiece and slidably inserted therein.

    • Controlling operation of an internal combustion engine at lean air fuel ratios uses an in-cylinder pressure sensor. The in-cylinder pressure sensor is coupled to each cylinder of the engine and measures in-cylinder pressure and generates an output signal as a function of such pressure. Airflow into the engine is also sensed and both the airflow and in-cylinder pressure are applied to the fuel controller for generating a fuel injection drive signal. Compensation means coupled to the in-cylinder pressure sensor means and airflow indication means modify the fuel air command applied to the engine as a function of airflow and in-cylinder pressure. The compensation means is also coupled to the fuel controller for applying a fuel command signal to the fuel controller thereby permitting engine operation at the lean air fuel ratio limit.

    • The present invention provides a convenient, efficient apparatus and method for aligning a workpiece with the cutting plane of a machine tool that is convenient and efficient. The apparatus comprises a spring-loaded device for aligning a workpiece with the cutting point of the spindle of a milling machine, which further comprises a dial indicator held in a movable block. The dial indicator is used to measure the desired difference in indicator readings between the front and back of a workpiece. To position the workpiece an operator pushes down on the indicator to contact the workpiece and slides it back and forth across the workpiece, which may be titled to obtain the desired difference in indicator reading between front and back.
