    • Methods, receivers, transmitters, and systems are provided for performing a soft hand-over of a mobile terminal between base station transceivers that communicate using different communication channels. A mobile terminal may be configured to receive and demodulate signals on a plurality of different communication channels concurrently and to modulate and transmit signals on a plurality of different communication channels concurrently. This allows, for example, multiple communication connections to be concurrently established between the mobile terminal and a plurality of different base station transceivers that use the different communication channels to communicate. The mobile terminal and cooperating base station transceivers may perform a soft hand-over by allowing the mobile terminal to establish communication connections with one or more new base station transceivers to decide which base station transceiver should be given control before terminating any pre-existing communication connection with a current base station transceiver.

    • A method for rapidly processing a directed retry (“DR”) message on a mobile station while the mobile station is void of an up-to-date neighbor list or in the process of completing neighbor list measurements. In one aspect of the invention, the method comprises the steps of receiving a directed retry message on a mobile station; setting SCANINTERVAL to zero and HL_FREQ to high if an up-to-date neighbor list does not exist on the mobile station; completing at least one neighbor list measurement within a wait time period; and invoking RTC-4. The step of completing the least one neighbor list measurement is accomplished within a wait time of about four seconds. The step of completing the least one neighbor list measurement preferably comprises completing 2 neighbor list measurements. If the wait time exceeds about four seconds the mobile station reverts to camping or idle condition.

    • According to some embodiments of the present invention, a reverse link traffic channel code used by a terminal accessing a CDMA wireless communications system is controlled responsive to determining whether the terminal has a duplicate Electronic Serial Number (ESN). In some embodiments, for example, an alternative ESN may be sent to the terminal having the duplicate ESN for use in generating the reverse link traffic channel code. In other embodiments, a time shift may be applied in generating the reverse traffic channel code, such as by time-shifting the reverse link traffic channel code or a long code used to generate the reverse link traffic channel code. In still other embodiments, an alternative long code mask, such as a private long code mask used for a voice privacy feature, may be used responsive to detection of a duplicate ESN. The present invention may be embodied as methods of operating wireless communications systems and/or terminals, wireless communications apparatus such as network components and terminals, and computer program products including program code configured to execute in a wireless communications apparatus.

Compensating baseband signals is this manner may be particularly valuable for the reverse link signal of a mobile terminal operating in a wireless communication environment such as CDMA2000. In such environments, abrupt phase shift changes in the transmit signal associated with transmit signal power control are undesirable.
