    • An antenna is orientable, directional and capable of use as a transmit and/or receive antenna. It includes at least one reflector, at least one source of electromagnetic radiation including means for exciting the source with two orthogonal linear polarizations and a mechanical system for positioning and holding the source and the reflector. The orientation of the antenna is made up of depointing and rotation about a preferred direction of propagation of the radiation and the mechanical system enables such rotation while keeping the source fixed, so conserving the orientation of the orthogonal linear polarization. A preferred embodiment of the antenna includes a parabolic main reflector and a hyperbolic auxiliary reflector in a Cassegrain geometry, and the mechanical system enables rotation of both reflectors about the preferred direction of radiation and holds the source fixed to conserve the orthogonal linear polarization axes of the beam. Applications include radar, direct broadcast satellites and telecommunications employing frequency re-use by polarization diversity, especially advantageous in space and airborne applications.

    • A three-access polarization and frequency duplexing device has in series a common circular waveguide for passing two polarizations of a wave within a low-frequency band and one polarizations of a wave within a high-frequency band, a first access waveguide which opens into the common waveguide and a transition, a secondary rectangular waveguide. The narrow sides of the secondary waveguide are parallel to one polarization of the low-frequency band and the broad sides are parallel to the polarization of the high-frequency band. A second access waveguide is connected to the secondary waveguide at right angles and coupled by a resonant slot. A short-circuit plate performs a short-circuiting function for the high-frequency portion of the wave of the high-frequency band aligned with the second access waveguide. The free end of the secondary waveguide being forms a third access waveguide. The first access waveguide has a filter for selecting a polarization of the wave from the low-frequency band. The second access waveguide is at right angles to the broad side of the secondary guide.

    • The in-flight refueling of a squadron of aircraft by a tanker by means of the same refueling hose requires the formation of a queue and the determination of the number of passes, one or possibly two, by each aircraft to the refueling hose, which constitutes a refueling sequence. Although the order in the queue is simple to establish, since it often corresponds to a classification by decreasing quantities of fuel demanded, the same does not apply to the number of passes to the refueling hose, which must be minimized while still respecting the endurances of the aircraft to be refueled before their actual refueling starts. The method described, which may be implemented by a computer, automates the search for a refueling sequence that satisfies the endurance requirements of the various aircraft to be refueled, while still having the minimum number of passes to the refueling hose by the aircraft in the squadron.
