摘要： Various embodiments are generally directed to techniques to dynamically encode video based on channel quality and received video quality. An apparatus for dynamically encoding video includes a processor component; and a dynamic video encoder for execution by the processor component, the dynamic video encoder comprising a reference map generator to generate a reference map based on a channel quality corresponding to a plurality of encoded video frames to be transmitted over a channel, the reference map including indications of relationships between a plurality of video frames for purposes of encoding the plurality of video frames as the plurality of encoded video frames to increase a visual quality of the plurality of encoded video frames when transmitted over the channel and decoded.

摘要： Multi-layered video structures are scaled over a range of perceived quality levels. An estimated Mean Opinion Score (eMOS)-based encoder control loop is utilized to determine one or more encoder key performance index (KPI) associated with a particular perceived quality level. A KPI-based encoder control loop is then utilized to guide generation of a hierarchical structure having quality and/or temporal and/or spatial enhancement layers, without recalculating eMOS for the scalable structure. In addition, eMOS is used to guide the generation of a hierarchical structure at best-perceived quality levels for a given bitrate budget. Rate adaptation may occur by dropping segments, changing hierarchical structure, or changing the KPI target values. With the structure scaled as a function of perceived quality, perceived quality is impacted predictably as the encoding rate is adapted.

摘要： Techniques for interfacing a set of active elements with an antenna array. In one exemplary embodiment, the active elements include a plurality of signal paths, each signal path including a mixer coupled to a local oscillator (LO) signal having an adjustable phase. When the active elements are to be interfaced with an unbalanced antenna, the phase of the LO signal for each signal path coupled to the unbalanced antenna may be adjusted independently of the other signal paths. When the active elements are to be interfaced with a balanced antenna, the phases of the LO signals for the two signal paths coupled to the balanced antenna are adjusted to differ by π radians from each other. The techniques may be applied in either receiver or transmitter applications to provide a flexible interface between an antenna array and an integrated circuit (IC) without the use of baluns.
