    • The present invention relates to a method for measuring exercise level during exercise and for measuring fatigue, in which method electrical signals produced by active muscles are measured with a measuring device and feedback is given from an exercise with a perceivable signal from a feedback device. In addition, the invention relates to a device for measuring exercise level and fatigue during exercise, which device includes sensors for measuring electrical signals from active muscles and a feedback device for giving feedback. In the method in accordance with the invention a momentary exercise level and the level of fatigue of a person are measured or estimated by measuring besides electrical signals received from muscles also other quantities describing exercise and from measuring results one or several indexes are calculated by means of which exercises carried out at different times and under different circumstances are comparable with each other and by means of which the person may simultaneously monitor and optimize his/her exercise and/or after exercise analyze his/her performance. The device in accordance with the invention includes sensors for measuring other quantities describing exercise than electrical signals from muscles, and a means for processing of measuring results and calculating one or several indexes describing exercises.

    • A method and wristop (wrist worn) device for monitoring physical exercise. The wristop device includes a central unit, in which there is a display face and to which a wristband is, or can be attached, sensor means for collecting a hemodynamic signal from the wrist, and a data-processing unit functionally connected to the sensor means, for deriving at least one physiological parameter from the hemodynamic signal. The data-processing unit of the wristop device is arranged to derive from the hemodynamic signal at least one physiological parameter depicting respiration, and further, on the basis of this, to calculate at least one training-effect parameter depending on the person and the exercise. In addition, the device makes it possible to eliminate the use of pulse bands in monitoring the training effect of exercise.

    • The invention relates to a method for defining a compass direction by means of an electronic compass device. In the method at least two field components of an external magnetic field are measured, from which a set of data points is formed, which correspond to the different orientations of the device relative to the external magnetic field, so that the location of the data points in a set of co-ordinates depends on the Earth's magnetic field and the magnetic disturbances of the environment. From the data points it is determined whether the set of data points correspond to a measurement, in which the device has remained on the horizontal plane with a predefined accuracy, or the tilting of the device is detected relative to the horizontal plane during measurement and the set of data points is corrected to correspond to a measurement in which the device has remained on the horizontal plane with a predefined accuracy. If the set of data points corresponds to a measurement in which the device has remained on the horizontal plane with a predefined accuracy, or the said correction of the set of data points has been performed, a new compass direction is defined by using the disturbance correction made on the basis of the said set of data points. The invention achieves a practical way of displaying an accurate direction.
