    • In a spinning machine a feeding roller for feeding fibers which may contain contaminants is arranged to supply such fibers to a fiber separating roller which advances them in a predetermined path towards the spinning chamber while separating the fibers. A cleaning slot communicates with the path intermediate the feeding roller and the spinning chamber; the cleaning slot is bounded by an upstream wall and by a downstream wall of which the latter has a buffing edge adjacent the path. An air channel extends through the upstream wall and communicates with the slot, and a collecting chamber communicates with the slot also for collecting impurities which enter the slot from the path. A suction channel communicates with the collecting chamber for removing such impurities therefrom.

    • An improved form of strand separating and stripping apparatus for an open-ended strand spinning system employs the integral formation, in a common housing, of an internal bore for supporting a toothed strand separating cylinder and an elongated external passage through the housing. The passage serves as an air duct for accelerating strands discharged from the cylinder toward a rotary yarn spinning chamber. The bore and the passage intersect in a strand stripping zone. A first boundary edge of the zone is shaped to smoothly discharge the strands into the passage. A wall section of the passage terminating at the first boundary edge is made removable from the housing to permit interchange of differently shaped first edges, and such wall section may be made axially movable in the housing to permit adjustment of the width of the zone.

    • Sliver condenser for a fiber separating device of open-end spinning units. The condenser comprises a combing-out cylinder and a sliver supplying mechanism associated therewith, such supplying mechanism consists either of a pair of feed rollers or of a feed roller cooperating with a pressure shoe between which the sliver discharged from the condenser is compressed. The cross-sectional area of the sliver condenser duct continuously diminishes from the intake to the outlet port thereof. At least within a portion of the duct length, the dimensions of the duct cross-sections parallel with the feed roller axis are greater than the maximum widths of the respective cross-sections perpendicular to the last-mentioned dimensions so that at least within said portion of the duct length the two opposite duct walls are wider than the two other opposite duct walls, while within one and the same duct cross-section the cross-sectional width continuously or gradually varies so that the maximum width of the cross-section is adjacent at least one of the opposite duct walls.
