    • A film application mechanism applies a pasty or fluid coating medium to a running fibrous material web, particularly a paper or cardboard web. At least one roller of a roller pair is an application roller, for transferring the coating medium provided in the form of a film on the application roller to one side of the fibrous material web. An application device and a doctor blade element are associated with the application roller such that the coating material is first applied in excess to the application roller upstream of the first nip by the application device and then removed in part in a second nip by the doctor blade element which forms the second film-forming nip with the application roller. Pressure sensors for determining a pressure profile transversely to the machine direction in the first and second nips are embedded in the elastic covering of the application roller.

    • A film press for finishing a fibrous web, in particular a paper or board web, includes a roll and a backing roll forming a nip therebetween, and at least one metering rod for contacting at least one of the rolls for applying a liquid or pasty medium thereto to transfer the medium to the fibrous web. The rolls each have a roll core and a roll cover surrounding the roll core. A sensor system having at least one glass fiber into which Bragg gratings are inscribed is disposed in the roll cover and/or between the roll core and roll cover of at least one of the rolls. The sensor system determines a web separation point of the fibrous web from at least one of the rolls after passage through the nip and transfer of the application medium. The web separation point can be controlled by using determined measured values.

    • A roll for a machine for producing and/or processing a fibrous web, such as a paper, board or tissue web, has a circular-cylindrical main roll body. A roll cover covers the circumferential surface of the main roll body, at least in some segments. A pressure- and/or temperature-sensitive sensor is embedded in the roll cover. The sensor connects to an electrical and/or optical signal line. The signal line has a first line segment inside the roll. A second line segment extends substantially outside the roll and is connectable to a signal excitation and/or signal processing unit at one end. An electrical and/or optical rotational connection connects the first and second line segments to allow the line segments to be rotated relative to one another. When the roll is rotated, the first line segment rotates together with the main roll body. The second line segment does not have to follow the rotation.
