Hollow agitators are disposed on the inside of the drum and have a base as part of the drum shell and at least one inlet opening to allow lye into the hollow space. Outlet openings are located on a top region of each agitator for allowing lye to pour out upon rotation to an elevated position. A fixed barrier located in the hollow space of each agitator serves to divide the space to define a chamber such that upon rotation from a lowest position, the chamber fills with lye, and upon further rotation the lye flows out of the outlet openings.
