    • A color adaptive lighting system for creating a mixture of light that lies on the Planck's radiation course, includes: a housing (2; 17; 27); a first light source in the form of at least one low-pressure gas discharge lamp; a second light source in the form of at least two light-emitting diodes (LED's) (9, 10; 21, 22; 33, 34); at least one reflector (3; 17; 27) that is placed behind the low-pressure gas discharge lamp (4; 18, 28) in the direction of emission of the lighting system; optionally a diffusing disc and/or cover disc (13, 14; 19, 20), and; a ballast for operating the light sources and for controlling the intensity of the light sources. The at least two LED's (9, 10; 21, 22; 33, 34) are arranged in the lighting system in such a manner that the main direction of emission of the LED's (9, 10; 21, 22; 33, 34) points toward the reflector.

    • The discharge or arc tube chamber of a low-power high-pressure discharge lamp is, in one single step, sealed and shaped by mold or form-blowing by using pinch or press jaws (30, 31) which have concave hollows (34) formed therein to clearly define the shape of the discharge vessel, and hence of the discharge or arc tube chamber, to permit reproducible results with little variation between individual lamps to be made in a single manufacturing step. Additionally, an inclined ramp-like surface can be formed at the narrow sides (14) of the pinch seal extending towards the walls (11) of the discharge chamber (3) to thereby eliminate pockets beneath the electrodes. Preferably, the electrode shafts diverge with respect to the optical axis (A) of the lamp to increase the electrode spacing, and thus permit operation at a lower operating pressure, with respect to prior art lamps.

    • High-pressure discharge lamp, with an outer bulb (10), on which a first terminal (12) and a second terminal (14) are provided, and with a discharge vessel (16), which is accommodated in the outer bulb (10), with a first and a second terminal (18, 20) and with an ignition apparatus (22), which is accommodated in the outer bulb (10) and is connected between the first terminal (12) of the outer bulb and the first terminal (18) of the discharge vessel (16). A switch (32), which closes depending on temperature, is connected in parallel with the ignition apparatus (22) between the first terminal (12) of the outer bulb (10) and the first terminal (18) of the discharge vessel (16). During operation of the lamp, the current therefore flows past the spiral pulse generator (32), so that no power is lost.
