    • There is provided a monitoring system capable of representing relationships of computer resources that virtual servers use in a tree structure and aggregating the performance statistics of the virtual resources sharing physical resources. The monitoring system has: a virtualization module that makes virtual computers operate; and a monitoring module for monitoring the physical computers and components of the virtual computers. The monitoring module designates the physical computer and the components of the virtualizing module as base resources, manages the components of the virtual computers as virtual resources, generates a platform tree by extracting a tree structure from the virtual resources and the components of the base resources for predetermined platforms, generates a service provision tree by extracting a tree structure having the base or virtual resources as starting points, and establishes a reference relationship for the components contained in the platform tree and also contained in the service provision tree.

    • A method of controlling a virtual computer system, the method comprising: obtaining, by a management computer, a load value for each of the plurality of groups, and comparing the load value against a preset threshold; identifying, a group whose load value exceeds the preset threshold as a first group; selecting, a second group from the plurality of groups minus the first group; identifying, as a migration target computer, a given physical computer out of physical computers that run virtual computers allocated to the second group; migrating, virtual computers that are provided by the migration target computer to other physical computers within the second group; changing, settings of the network switch in a manner that enables the migration target computer to operate in the first group; adding, the migration target computer to the first group; and controlling, the migration target computer to run virtual computers of the first group.

    • Disclosed are a virtual computer system and method, wherein computer resources are automatically and optimally allocated to logical partitions according to loads to be accomplished by operating systems in the logical partitions and setting information based on a knowledge of workloads that run on the operating systems. Load measuring modules are installed on the operating systems in order to measure the loads to be accomplished by the operating systems. A manager designates the knowledge concerning the workloads on the operating systems through a user interface. An adaptive control module determines the allocation rations of the computer resources relative to the logical partitions according to the loads and the settings, and issues an allocation varying instruction to a hypervisor so as to thus instruct variation of allocations.
