    • In a receiver computer 100, a transmission controller 111 transmits user interface data 171 to a transmitter computer 200. In the transmitter computer 200, a display processing unit 213 causes a user interface for inputting print settings information to be displayed on the screen of a monitor 250, based on the transmitted user interface data 171. When the print settings information is input via an input device 240, a transmission controller 211 transmits color image data 271, color-correction source data 272, and the input print settings information to the receiver computer 100. In the receiver computer 100, a print processing unit 114 carries out a variety of processing operations with respect to color image data, based on the print settings information. A color correction element 118 in the print processing unit 114 carries out a color correction of the color image data using the color-correction source data 272 and color-correction destination data 172 read from a hard disk 170. A printer 180 prints a color image, which is expressed by the contents of the color-corrected color image data. This arrangement enables a printer connected to the receiver computer to print a color image based on the print data transmitted from the transmitter computer via a computer network, even if a printer driver exclusively provided for the printer has not been installed in the transmitter computer.

    • Data files are action tagged by electronic devices as the files are used, and such tags are used to compute a total value for each data file among a group of data files for the purpose of running comparative-type operations, e.g., sorting or organizing the group of data files, or searching for one or more files in the group. The action tags are carried on each data file, preferably in the header, so as to travel with the file as the file is transferred among devices. The action tagging generally involves tracking, and storing as metadata in the data file, each occurrence of each of multiple indirect actions, and one or more characteristics associated with each indirect action occurrence. In setting up a comparative-type operation, a user can select via an interface one or more parameters with which to constrain each input value computation for respective indirect activities. A user-selected weight can be assigned to each input calculation. Embodiments of the invention and/or aspects thereof can be realized in methods, instruction-containing mediums, data structures, devices and systems.

    • A management agent ME1 of a target T1 receives a request of log-in from an initiator of interest and determines whether or not a number of initiators that currently log in the target T1 reaches a predetermined allowable number of simultaneous log-in (steps S210 and S212). In the case of an affirmative answer, the management agent ME1 reads an ordinal number of precedence ‘n’ allocated to a GUID of the initiator of interest from a queue (step S213) and reads a time constant mapped to the input ordinal number of precedence ‘n’ from a time constant table (step S214). The management agent ME1 subsequently sends a status packet, which includes a log-in error status and the time constant, to the initiator of interest (step S216). The initiator of interest receives the status packet, reads the time constant included in the input status packet, and outputs another request of log-in to the target T1 at a timing specified by the time constant. This arrangement of the present invention practically ensures that the initiator that outputs the first request of log-in first to the target T1 gains the log-in first.
