    • An integrated routing circuit that provides serial-to-parallel and parallel-to-serial data conversion, and data transmission over various types of media including coaxial, twisted-pair, and fiber optic media. The integrated routing circuit has two receivers, three multiplexers, a reclocking circuit, a serial to parallel converter, a parallel to serial converter, a serial transmitter, an output controller, and a parallel transmitter. The circuits that form the integrated routing circuit are arranged so that either serial or parallel data sources can be selected from a plurality of inputs to the integrated routing circuit and so that various routing paths can be established for the selected sources. The selected routing path is established via the use of control words.

    • A method and system for managing memory using Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request in a communication system is provided. The method includes storing a retransmitted burst in a memory. The retransmitted burst includes plurality of bits. One or more of memory address of the retransmitted burst and the information corresponding to the retransmitted burst is recorded in a location table. The location table records memory addresses and the information corresponding to a plurality of bursts stored in the memory. The method further includes determining one or more preceding bursts corresponding to the retransmitted burst stored in the memory using location table. Thereafter, a combined burst is generated using the retransmitted burst and one or more preceding burst, if one or more preceding bursts corresponding to the retransmitted burst are stored in the memory. The combined burst includes the plurality of bits.

    • A communication system is described in which a receiver allocated to a sector of a communication network receives signals via all antennas of the network regardless of the sector allocation of the antenna. The system includes multiple antennas configured to form numerous antenna sets. Each antenna set is allocated to one of a number of sectors of a communication network. The system includes numerous modems or receivers, and each modem is coupled to an antenna set of a sector. The system includes a memory device coupled to the modems. The memory device includes signal processing information shared among the modems of the system. The signal processing information allows each modem to receive communications from subscriber stations in any sector via any of the system receive antennas.
