    • A method of processing a moving picture includes determining, based on a pixel value at a predetermined position in a first frame included in a moving picture, a pixel value at a corresponding position to the predetermined position in a second frame which is subsequent to the first frame in the moving picture, and a degree of response delay caused at a display of the moving picture by a liquid crystal display, an output value for an output of a picture at the predetermined position in the second frame. The method further includes detecting an edge area from the second frame; and correcting the output value for the edge area so that an absolute difference between the output value for the edge area and a current output value is larger by a predetermined first correction amount.

    • It is an object of the invention to provide an image display device for improving the image quality of moving images and still images displayed on a liquid crystal display device while controlling increase in power consumption. A liquid crystal panel for performing input image display and black image display at an arbitrary black display time ratio in one frame period, a movement detection unit for detecting a movement of the input image and outputting movement information, a display ratio control unit for fixing the black display time ratio based on the movement information, and a display brightness control unit for controlling brightness of the liquid crystal panel for one frame period to be substantially constant irrespective of the black display period are provided. The movement detection unit detects whether the input image is a moving image or a still image, and the display ratio control unit sets at least one transient black display time ratio between the black display time ratios for the moving image and the still image which is determined according to the result of the movement detection unit, so that the black display time ratio changes midway to the transient black display time ratio in the period when the black display time ratio is switched between the moving image and the still image.

    • An image matching apparatus includes a numerical analyzing unit that solves an equation of motion numerically. The equation of motion is formulated as an image matching state transition model representing a mapping relation between a source image and a destination image. The equation of motion represents a force applied on each lattice point of the destination image including potential energy force. The numerical analyzing unit calculates the potential energy force, and sets a convergence value of a solution of the equation of motion as a mapping relation between the lattice point of the source image and the lattice point of the destination image based on the numerical analysis.
