    • A forging method for upsetting end portions of a raw material as diameter expansion scheduled portions includes: providing an upsetting apparatus having a fixing die, guides each having an insertion passage for inserting and holding an end portion of the raw material in a buckling preventing state, and punches each for axially pressing the end portion of the raw material inserted in and held by the insertion passage; inserting end portions of the raw material with the end portions protruded from the fixing die into the insertion passages; and moving the guides in direction opposite to moving direction of the punches such that length of exposed portion of the raw material becomes equal to or less than buckling limit length at cross-sectional area of the exposed portion of the raw material while simultaneously axially pressing the end portions of the raw material with the punches.

    • A forging apparatus 1A includes a swaging apparatus 2 equipped with a fixing die 10, a guide 20 having an insertion passage 22 for inserting and holding a bar-shaped raw material 5 in a buckling preventing state, and a punch 30. The raw material 5 is fixed to the fixing die 10 with the one end portion of the raw material protruded. The one end portion of the raw material 5 is inserted into the insertion passage 22 of the guide 20. Thereafter, while pressing the raw material 5 with the punch 30 in the axial direction, in a state in which an entire peripheral surface of the exposed portion 8 of the raw material 5 exposed between the guide 20 and the fixing die 10 is not restrained, the guide 20 is moved in a direction opposite to the moving direction of the punch 30 so that a length of the exposed portion 8 of the raw material 5 becomes a budding limit length or less at a cross-sectional area of the exposed portion 8 of the raw material 5. Thus, the one end portion of the raw material 5 is subject to swaging processing.

    • An upsetting method high in productivity of an upsetting manufactured product is provided. An extruder 11 and a closed-die 20 divided into two pieces are prepared. The divided members 21 and 21 of the closed-die are combined with each other so that the tip end portion of an extrusion nozzle 13 is arranged in a cavity 25 of the closed-die 20 with the extruded raw material 1 extruded from the extrusion opening 15 of the extrusion nozzle 13 of the extruder 11. With this, the closed-die 20 is formed, and the extruded raw material 1 is clamped by and between clamping portions 22 and 22 provided at both the divided members 21 and 21. Subsequently, while extruding the extruded raw material 1 from the extrusion opening 15 of the extrusion nozzle 13 by the extruder 11, both the divided members 21 and 21 are moved in the forward direction with respect to the extrusion direction of the extruded raw material 1 at a speed slower than the extrusion speed in a state in which the extruded raw material 1 is clamped by and between the clamping portions 22 and 22 of both the divided members 21 and 21. Thereby, the exposed portion 2 of the extruded raw material 1 exposed between the extrusion opening 15 of the extrusion nozzle 13 and the clamping portions 22 of both the divided members 21 and 21 is expanded in diameter in the cavity 25.

    • An upsetting method capable of eliminating a correction step by preventing occurrence of quench distortion is provided. The method includes the step of preparing an upsetting apparatus 10 equipped with a forming die 11 and a guide 20 having an insertion hole 21 for securing a diameter expansion scheduled portion 2 of the bar-shaped raw material 1 in a buckling preventing state and a punch 30. The diameter expansion scheduled portion 2 of the raw material 1 in a heated state is disposed in the insertion hole 21 of the guide 20 in a heated state, and the tip end portion of the guide 20 is disposed in the cavity 12 of the forming die 11 adjusted in temperature so as to be below a temperature of the raw material 1, and the raw material is secured to the securing portion 13 of the forming die 11. With this state, the guide 20 is moved in a direction opposite to a moving direction 37 of the punch 30 while axially pressurizing the diameter expansion scheduled portion 2 of the raw material 1 by moving the punch 30, to thereby expand the diameter expansion scheduled portion 2 of the raw material 1 exposed between a tip end portion of the guide 20 and the securing portion 13 of the forming die 11 within the cavity 12 of the forming die 11.
