    • Techniques for sending resource requests in a wireless communication system are described. Multiple types of quality of service (QoS) information may be supported for resource requests and may include QoS class and latency deadline. A terminal may have data to send on the reverse link and may determine QoS information for the data. The QoS information may include at least one QoS type, which may be dependent on a configuration selected for use to send resource requests. The terminal may also determine backlog level information indicative of the amount of data to send. The terminal may generate a resource request with the backlog level and QoS information. The resource request may include the backlog level information and QoS class information, the backlog level information and either QoS class information or latency deadline information, the backlog level information and latency deadline information, or some other combination of information.

    • Systems and methodologies are described that provide techniques for generating and utilizing reverse link feedback for interference management in a wireless communication system. Channel quality and/or interference data can be obtained by a terminal from a serving sector and one or more neighboring sectors, from which an interference-based headroom value can be computed that contains interference caused by the terminal to an allowable range. The interference-based headroom value can then be provided with power amplifier (PA) headroom feedback to the serving sector. Based on the provided feedback from the terminal, the serving sector can assign resources for use by the terminal in communication with the serving sector. Further, the serving sector may choose to honor or disregard a received interference-based power value based on quality of service and/or other system parameters.

    • Systems and methodologies are described that provide techniques for managing persistent resource assignments in a wireless communication system. An access point can generate a bitmap by mapping access terminals having persistent assignments for traffic channels to a series of bitmap bits that provide keep-alive indications for the access terminals. The bitmap can then be provided as a common keep-alive message in a broadcast or multicast transmission to the access terminals. The keep-alive message can further include CRC bits for error prevention. An access terminal, upon receiving the keep-alive message, can then determine whether a bitmap bit in the keep-alive message corresponding to the access terminal conveys a keep-alive indication for the terminal and utilize its persistently assigned traffic channels accordingly.
