    • A screen system includes a display, three or more sensors, a processor connected to the display and the three or more sensors, and a clock connected to the processor. When a position on a display is selected by a stylus that includes one or more emitters, the one or more emitters each emit a pulse or a series of pulses. Each sensor generates a receive message when the sensors receive a pulse. Each receive message includes an identifier identifying which sensor transmitted the receive message. The processor then determines the location of the emitter or emitters in the stylus and the position on the display using the sensor identifiers and a respective time associated with each receive message.

    • There is provided an electronic device having a mutual capacitance touchscreen or touchpad having combined finger navigation and active stylus navigation and character entry capabilities. According to one such embodiment, first and second pluralities of sense and drive electrodes are disposed in or on at least one substrate, and form an array configured to permit a first location corresponding to a finger or a second location corresponding to an active stylus to be detected thereby. The drive electrodes in the array are configured to operate as drive electrodes when the touchscreen or touchpad operates in a first finger touch mode, and to operate as additional sense electrodes when the touchscreen or touchpad operates in a second active stylus mode.

    • An insulation displacement connector that includes a plurality of apertures disposed through a mating face and a ribbon-contacting face of the insulation displacement connector. The mating face is configured to mate with a complementary connector complementary in gender to the insulation displacement connector. The ribbon-contacting face is disposed opposite the mating face and configured for coupling with an interspersed ground conductor ribbon cable having a plurality of parallel insulated conductors. The insulation displacement connector includes a plurality of first conductor coupling structures. Each of the first conductor coupling structures is disposed in one of the plurality of apertures and is configured to couple to one of first designated conductors of the plurality of parallel insulated conductors and a contact on the complementary connector when the complementary connector is coupled to the insulation displacement connector at the mating face. The insulation displacement connector further includes a second conductor coupling structure disposed at the ribbon-contacting face. The second conductor coupling structure is configured to couple with a second designated conductor of the plurality of parallel insulated conductors different from the first designated conductors. The second designated conductor is coupled to ground during use and represents a shielding ground conductor to reduce inductive crosstalk between first selected ones of the first designated conductors.

    • According to one embodiment, there is provided a mutual capacitance sensing system comprising at least one substrate comprising an electrode array mounting surface. A plurality of drive electrodes are disposed in a first plurality of rows or columns positioned upon the electrode array mounting surface, where the drive electrodes in each row or column are electrically connected to one another. A plurality of sense electrodes are disposed in a second plurality of rows or columns positioned upon the electrode array mounting surface that is substantially perpendicular to the first plurality of rows or columns, and the sense electrodes in each column are electrically connected to one another. The sense and drive electrodes form an array disposed substantially in a single plane that is configured to permit at least one location corresponding to at least one finger placed in proximity thereto to be detected thereby.

    • In one embodiment, a touch screen assembly includes a sealing glass comprising ion-exchange strengthened glass having a first coefficient of thermal expansion CTE1. The assembly may also include a backplane glass comprising ion-exchangeable glass having a device surface, an underside and a second coefficient of thermal expansion CTE2, wherein CTE2 is within +/−15.0×10−7/° C. of CTE1. The device surface of the backplane glass is bonded and hermetically sealed to the underside of the sealing glass with a frit seal which encloses a device area between the underside of the sealing glass and the device surface of the backplane glass. An array of metal oxide thin film transistors may be deposited on the device surface of the backplane glass in the device area, wherein the array of metal oxide thin film transistors have a third coefficient of thermal expansion CTE3 that is within +/−15.0×10−7/° C. of CTE1.
