Glycol ethers, and in particular propylene glycol alkyl (or aryl) ethers, can be resolved enzymatically by enantioselective transesterification with a hydrolase, in the presence of an acyl donor, at high concentrations of substrates; in some embodiments, the hydrolase is a lipase.

摘要： A method for a liquid-liquid extraction of hydrophilic organic compounds from aqueous solutions thereof is described. The method generally includes intermixing a sufficient quantity of a specified glycol ether with the aqueous liquor at a first temperature to form a suspension comprising an aqueous raffinate phase and a glycol ether extract phase; separating the glycol ether extract phase from the aqueous raffinate phase; heating the glycol ether extract phase to a second, higher temperature to form a suspension comprising an aqueous extract phase containing a portion of the hydrophilic organic compound and a glycol ether raffinate phase; and separating this glycol ether raffinate phase from the aqueous extract phase. The selected glycol ether has an inverse solubility in water and the partition ratio, value K, for the hydrophilic organic compound is greater than 0.1. This method is useful for recovering valuable hydrophilic organic acids produced via fermentation or produced or used in various manufacturing processes.

摘要： Embodiments of the invention relate to crosslinkable silyl group-containing polymers and methods of producing them. In one embodiment a method of producing a silyl polymer is provided. The method includes reacting at least one natural oil based polyol with at least one isocyanate to form at least one prepolymer having at least one NCO group. The at least one natural oil based polyol includes the reaction product of hydroxymethylated fatty acids or esters thereof and at least one polyol initiator. The prepolymer having at least one NCO group is reacted with at least one amino functional alkoxy silane to form the silyl polymer, such that the silyl polymer includes at least one crosslinkable silyl group, at least one urethane group, and at least one urea group in each molecule.
