    • A method and mobile device are presented for centrally controlling backup functionality, so that parties such as backup devices will efficiently be informed how data content should be backed up from or restored to the mobile device. The mobile device exposes to a party rules for backing up or restoring data content, and those rules are not just for the party, but also are for other parties including the mobile device itself. The rules are contained in a list formatted in extensible markup language (XML). If the party is an external party, the mobile device provides an object exchange protocol (OBEX) capability object in response to the party fetching that object. The OBEX capability object describes capabilities of the mobile device, and is for use by the external party in order to access the list of rules via the mobile device exposing those rules to the external party.

    • The present invention is a network, service network entities, and a method for providing users of a packet switched communication network (32) with access to services obtained from a private service network (34). A method of providing at least one service obtained from a service network for a user in a packet switched communication network originating at an originating network entity in the packet switched communication network a service request which is transmitted to a controlling entity in the service network, the service request triggering at least one service to be provided to the user; the controlling entity formulating a service route comprising at least one service providing server with each service providing server processing the service request on the service route and an allocation of how each service providing server is to provide the at least one service; and transmitting the service request, the allocation and any service instructions along the service route from the controlling entity through each service providing server and then the request for service and the at least one service from a last service providing server or the controlling entity on the service route to the packet switched communication network and thereafter to a network entity in the packet switched communication network.

    • A method for routing calls in a communication system comprising a network and a plurality of terminals associated with a single subscriber identity, the method comprising: receiving a request to establish a call from a first terminal to the subscriber identity; retrieving from a subscriber information store a set of weighting parameters for the subscriber identity, each of the terminals associated with the subscriber having at least one of the weighting parameters of the set associated with it; determining an order in which to route the call to the terminals based on the weighting parameters; and routing the call to the terminals in that order until the call is terminated or is answered by one of the terminals.
